Weekly Update!
Greetings Gator Nation!
Due to a slight delay, report cards will be going home tomorrow. Be sure to ask your students. Second family contacts will be getting theirs in the mail.
Early Release Day on Friday: Dismissal is at 12:55 for bus riders, and 1:00 pm for walkers! Faculty and Staff are spending our afternoon in professional development.
Attendance: Just as a reminder, if you Gator will be out of school for a day or needs an early dismissal to contact Beth Mullen and Joy Thomas in the office. Phone or email is fine. If we don't hear from you, then the absence is marked as UNEXCUSED. Thank you for your help and communication.
Candy: There has been an uptick in students coming to school with candy. While sweet treats have their place, we ask that you help your student leave those treats at home. Thanks for your collaboration!
Substitute Teachers! I want to publicly acknowledge and thank the many substitute teachers we have had to join as guests for the day to support our students when our teachers are unable to be here. They are TRULY amazing humans and we are so incredibly grateful for each and every one of them. I hope you find ways to help your students express their gratitude to these wonderful humans for stepping in whenever and wherever they are needed!

Note From the School Board
Please tell us! The Montpelier Roxbury School Board places a very high value on community engagement and input, and we know that we can improve our practices to this end. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey to let us know how we could better serve and engage YOU! There are just a few multiple choice questions, and then an opportunity to provide open feedback and rank other people's suggestions/thoughts. We expect it will take you no more than 3-5 minutes. Thank you so much for your time.

Caregiver Opportunity: Staff Screening Committee
As we prepare for the 2023- 2024 school year, we will likely have a need to create Screening Committees which will review and interview applicants for potential openings at Main Street Middle School. We are hoping to create a bank of caregivers that are willing to serve in this capacity to ensure that caregiver perspectives are taken into account throughout the hiring process.
Ideally, each screening committee would consist of:
- 1-2 Caregivers
- 1-2 Students, generally in grades 5-7
- 2-3 Existing Staff members
- 1 Administrator
Commitment would include signing a confidentiality agreement regarding the entire process (to protect the privacy of all applicants), reading through qualified applications, & joining the interview committee in screening candidates by asking questions and provide feedback both written and orally about each candidate to a school administrator.
This is a volunteer position but a critical help in ensure we continue to bring in the best staff to Main Street Middle School. If you are willing to add your name to potential Caregiver members, please email Julie Conrad at julieconrad@mpsvt.org using the subject heading "Screening Committee" Feel free to add in if there are particular areas in which you would be most comfortable in
Please note that depending on the number of volunteers not everyone that volunteers will be selected. We will work to ensure it's an equitable process as we determine the committee membership. Thanks for your consideration.
