1st Semester Student Honors Recognition
We are excited to announce that LMS will be recognizing students for their exceptional performance in the first semester. Students will be recognized in the areas of all A’s, A and B Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, and Perfect S.O.A.R.scores (4’s in every class). This will be for the entire first semester, and not individual quarters. Any of the listed recognitions are a testament to your students' hard work, dedication, and commitment to educational excellence. The ceremony to celebrate these accomplishments will be held during the mornings of:
Tuesday, February 18th (6th Grade)
Thursday, February 20th (7th Grade)
Friday, February 21st (8th Grade)
The ceremonies will begin at approximately 7:45 a.m. and will be located in the LMS gymnasium. I envision the ceremony lasting around 20 minutes. We ask that family members enter through the 6th grade entrance at the west end of the building and report directly to the gymnasium and find a seat in the bleachers on the west end of the gymnasium. Students will sit on the opposite side of the gymnasium and will be called up to receive their awards, they will then walk directly in front of the parent/guardian section for a quick picture. We will also be taking a group photo at the end of the ceremony.
We will be sending notifications to individual parents/guardians whose student will be receiving an award. This notification will be sent out Friday, February 7th, by the end of the school day. If you feel that your student deserves an award and you did not receive notification, please call the main office 810-591-0711 by Thursday, February 13th so we can make adjustments prior to the ceremonies.
Even though not every student will be recognized, we believe it is important for students to congratulate their peers by attending. This will hopefully inspire them to strive to earn recognition in future events.
To avoid having to park in non designated parking areas, we will have additional parking for the event on the north side of the building (bus drop off/pick up area). The gate from the LMS entrance will open around 7:30 a.m., once the busses have dropped off students. Please do not park in this area prior to 7:30 a.m.
Please refrain from parking in the grass areas and shoulders of the roadways. We look forward to celebrating the successes of our students with you. Thank you!
LMS Parent Meeting
We will have our next parent meeting of the 2023-2024 school year on February 13, at 8:15 a.m. here at Linden Middle School. Please check in at the main office and you will be directed to the meeting location. If you are interested in being part of this group please email me and I will add you to the distribution list. kenders@lindenschools.org
Counselor's Corner
Gratitude is a powerful practice that can enhance our well-being and happiness. It means recognizing and appreciating the good things in our lives, both big and small. Research shows that practicing gratitude can lead to improved mental health, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of purpose.
Here are some prompts to help you and your family practice gratitude together:
- Share three things you are grateful for at the dinner table.
- Write thank-you notes to teachers, friends, or family members.
- Create a gratitude jar where family members can drop in notes of appreciation throughout the week.

LMS Families,
I cannot believe we are already into February. The first semester went extremely well here at LMS with student behavior and 11 to 14 year old students constantly making good choices. As we know, there will always be some small hiccups as students mature, but that is why we are here to help. Continue to be as supportive as you have been at home and things will continue to go well here. We truly are extremely blessed to be in this community together.
As we navigate through the winter season, I do want to give a few reminders. Dress code and cell phone policy will continue to be strictly enforced. The cell phone policy has been a great change for our students here during the school day and we have seen a lot of benefits to not allowing them during the school day. Thankfully, our students have done a great job following the rule with this policy. We have warned them all multiple times that both of these policies will continue to be strictly enforced, so do not get lackadaisical and slip up because you will get caught. Another reminder we continue to talk about with our students is to always be prepared with a charged chromebook each morning. We are seeing more and more students come to school with a chromebook that needs to be charged and this is becoming a minor disruption to our day. We have addressed this at class meetings, but support from home also helps. We appreciate it!
Students continue to do a great job informing adults of potential issues that pop up. We are very thankful for how the majority of our students act daily and respond to adversity when it happens. Please, as parents, do not hesitate to reach out to the school if your child comes home and informs you of a serious situation. This is the best way to prevent negative things from happening. Let's have a great month!
