TVHS Trivia
A new feature this year -- TVHS Trivia. Would you like to know more about TVHS? The staff had an opportunity to do just that. During the 12 days before Winter Break, the staff got to have some fun learning about some of the history of TVHS. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. There will be a new Trivia question each week.
TVStrong
Hey Eagles,
Celebrating What It Means to Be #TVStrong!
Every week, we spotlight students who exemplify the core values of strength, teamwork, respect, nobility, and goal-setting—the heart of what it means to be TVStrong. Teachers and staff make time to recognize these outstanding individuals with positive referrals, celebrating their character, actions, and contributions. Thank you for being shining examples of excellence Eagle in our community.

Track and Field

TVHS Painted Hearts
Thompson Valley National Honor Society is hosting our own TVHS painted hearts similar to Loveland's painted hearts. Hearts will be displayed in the TVHS parking lot mid-January through February. Students and parents/guardians are invited to purchase a heart with a message stenciled on the heart.
Proceeds of the sales go to fund the NHS club and provide an opportunity for NHS to donate to a charity of their choice.
The cost for a heart will be $20 per heart with limited availability. Students can submit payment during lunch in the cafeteria to an NHS member and parents/guardians can submit payment through the attendance office or through their student. If dropping off payment through the attendance office, please submit payment in an envelope marked with "NHS Painted Hearts." Cash or check (Made out to TVHS NHS) is accepted.
Message limit is limited to 25 characters, including spaces. For a Heart symbol, Use a Capital "H" in Your Message and as one character. We reserve the right to eject inappropriate or political commentary.

Did you know January is known to be the coldest month in the Northern hemisphere and the warmest in the Southern hemisphere? Google
January is designated as National Blood Donor Month. Below is some information on giving blood.
The minimum age to donate blood is 17 years old in most states, but some states allow 16-year-olds to donate with parental consent. Other requirements for donating blood include: Weighing at least 110 lbs, Being in good health, and Not having donated blood in the last 56 days. There are additional height and weight requirements for donors 18 years old and younger, and for high school student donors. Eligibility requirements are in place to protect the safety of donors and patients. The FDA establishes these requirements to ensure the blood supply is safe from bloodborne diseases and to protect patients from anything in a donor's blood that could harm them.

Schedule Changes for 2nd Semester
If you need a schedule change, the only way to do so is to fill out this Google Form beginning on December 16th. Please read the form instructions carefully, as we have made some changes to the schedule change process this semester. You will not receive a schedule change unless you fill out the Google Form, and please remember that we are only honoring requests that fit the parameters.
Frick That

Do you have a graduating senior? Did you know they have the opportunity to keep their Chromebook? If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please read the "How to Accept the Senior Device Request" article on the technology department blog. You may also want to help your student transfer any files or data they want to keep before their account is deleted. Please read the "Google Takeout" article to learn how to do this. If you have questions about either process, please call the TSD Help Desk at 970-613-7777.
The December Library Challenge has begun! Participate in The 12 Days of Reading throughout the month of December. Complete at least 8 of the activities by Jan. 10 and be entered in a prize drawing! See the image below for the activities, or visit The 12 Days of Reading online.
Even when we are not at school, you have access to books! Sora is a great resource for school breaks because it is available 24/7, from phones, tablets, and Chromebooks. There are thousands of ebooks and audiobooks ready for checkout! Download the app on phones or tablets, or access through Classlink on Chromebooks. Student login is their username and password they use for the computers. Happy reading!
TVHS Community! As an ELO opportunity I will be offering an introduction to sewing class. Students will learn the basics of simple hand sewing and sewing with a machine, measuring for and reading a pattern, sewing seams, using elastic, etc. My goal is to have students be able to create 2 projects, a pair of flannel pajama pants and a chef apron. I am in need of basic donations and this time of year there are great sales happening at fabric stores!:
Flannel fabric for pajamas (1.5 to 3 yard lengths. Each pair of pajamas will take approximately 2.5 to 3 yards, so 1.5 yard would cover 1 leg!)
Lightweight cotton canvas for aprons (1 and 1/3 yard lengths)
Sewing scissors
Pins or quilting clips
Sewing needles and small pin cushions
Marking pens
White thread or neutral colors
1 inch no-roll elastic for waistbands.
Dream list:
extra basic sewing machine (I have access to 2)
cutting mat and rotary cutter
Multiple sizes unisex pajama pants patterns
The group will be small - around 12 maybe 15.
Thank you.
