News
Congratulations, Mrs. Bleau, Intermediate School/Junior High Teacher of the Quarter!
Congratulations to Mrs. Jaci Bleau, the recipient of the district’s Keller Award for the second quarter! Mrs. Bleau is an amazing educator who has dedicated her career to serving students as both an elementary teacher and as an Intervention Specialist.
She brings creativity, patience, and positivity to her classroom, making sure every student learns important life skills in a fun and engaging way. Beyond the classroom, she’s a big part of the school community, helping with athletics, mentoring student teachers, and always going the extra mile for her students. We are so grateful for her dedication. Mrs. Bleau is very deserving of this honor!
Erin's Law Senate Bill 288 Presentation
Erin’s Law is legislation that aims to protect children from sexual abuse by ensuring they are educated on body safety and personal boundaries. The law mandates that schools provide age-appropriate lessons to students about recognizing, avoiding, and reporting abuse.
These lessons are designed to empower children with the knowledge they need to keep themselves safe, while also providing them with resources to reach out for help if necessary.
Educating our students about these important topics helps foster a safer, more supportive environment for all children. A representative from C.A.P.P. (Child Abuse Prevention Program) will be at IKE to present to our students on Tuesday, February 4, addressing these legislative requirements.
Your student will bring home a form on Monday if you would like to opt out. Below is a form you can print out and send if you don't get one from your student.
Thank you!
6th Grade Camp Michindoh Filled with Memories
As part of the Eisenhower experience, we offer the opportunity for our 6th grade students to attend a week of outdoor education at Camp Michindoh in Hillsdale, Michigan. This year our 6th graders went to camp last week! Welcome back, all! We are glad you are back!
We had about 25 students who did not attend camp this year! Most all of our 6th grade teachers attended with their students and 40 Clay High School students attended to be counselors. Thank you to the families who sent their sons and daughters for your commitment to this experience!
Students who attended were treated to first class outdoor education including a reptiles and amphibians class, a “Creepy Critters” class, archery class and many other opportunities. Students also experienced a square dance and a skit night.
Thank you to Ms. Kidd for coordinating this experience and to all the teachers and counselors for their hours of dedication! Camp is truly a highlight of the school year and we hope to have this type of fantastic turnout again next year.
5th Grade parents can expect that the cost of camp for next year will be approximately $250. It was $240 this year and is certain to rise. Hopefully with a year to save, your student will be able to attend next year! We look forward to this awesome experience continuing with your children!

Backpacks at Ike!
Several years ago we made the adjustment from using lockers throughout the day to having students carry backpacks. The carrying of backpacks has been a great time saver and has created a much better hallway experience for students. More time is available to use the restroom, communicate with teachers and friends, etc.
The downside of carrying backpacks is that they can become heavy and cumbersome. Students should use their lockers each day for coats, lunch boxes, and a place to store heavy items they do not need throughout the majority of the day (ie: library books, extra materials, etc.). Students are required to have the correct items in each class so they will still be responsible to have what they need in the classroom as missing supplies is a part of our demerit system. However, there are definitely ways to use the locker to limit the weight both during the day and overnight. We ask that no cell phones or valuable items are stored in lockers.
Please do a backpack check with your student occasionally to eliminate some of the weight that simply comes from accumulation of items that no longer need to be there. Please be sure that nonessential items (ie: toys, products, etc.) are left at home.
I appreciate the effort of our teachers to limit the weight of backpacks in our building and realize that, despite the strong effort, backpacks are very heavy for some of our students. Please note the lockers can be used throughout the day.

Attendance Matters!
As the winter months settle in, we want to take a moment to stress the importance of consistent school attendance. Coming to school every day, even during the colder seasons, plays a vital role in your child's academic success and emotional well-being.
Here’s why regular attendance matters:
- Builds Routine and Reduces Anxiety: A consistent schedule helps students feel secure and prepared for their day, especially for those who may experience anxiety. When children are regularly in school, they are less likely to feel overwhelmed by catching up on missed work or adjusting to changes.
- Supports Academic Progress: Each day in the classroom provides valuable learning experiences that are hard to replicate at home. Regular attendance ensures your child does not miss out on key lessons or interactions with peers.
- Encourages Social Connection: Winter can feel isolating, but school offers a warm, supportive environment where children can connect with their friends and teachers.
Thank you for partnering with us in making Eisenhower a place where students thrive, no matter the season!
Congratulations to the following students who proved Attendance Matters through staying in the Green on their charts: Abigail Duly, Natalie Ellis, Reece Jacobs, and Doris Trippett.
