#GROW
September 16 - 20, 2024
Holy Spirit's Chaplain
Our chaplain for the school year is Ms.Yacyshyn who is also one of our grade 3 teacher. The role of the school chaplain has many parts. The main role of the chaplain is to connect the parish community with the school community. The chaplain works with the OLPH church clergy to plan weekly school visits, pass on sacramental preparation information and faith formation in our school newsletters. The chaplain also plans the school Mass celebrations with priests and students at the Church as well as at the school. With the help of school staff we ensure our schools are faith filled and faith is accessible to all students, staff and families. This is evident throughout our weekly assemblies held every Friday, among other ways.

Communication
Our teachers use Class Dojo to communicate and share information and pictures of the students in class. Class Dojo is a free online/app tool that does not share any information with advertisers or marketers and does not own anything. We hope that you connect with us through Class Dojo as well.
We like to share pictures on Social Media (Instagram and Facebook). We will include all students who were given consent in PowerSchool. This is a wonderful way to see the variety of learning and fun activities throughout the school year.
Healthy School
At Holy Spirit school we are committed to helping develop of students body, mind, and spirit. We commit to building a healthy community.
We are proud to be part of APPLE Schools. What is APPLE Schools? APPLE Schools is a health promotion project with the vision of healthy kids in healthy schools. Why is this important? Children with nutritious diets and recommended physical activity levels show better academic results. Healthy habits learned early in life often translate to a lifetime of healthy living.
With our focus on wellness, we ask that you do not send cupcakes or sweet treats for your child's birthday. If you would like to send something to school for your child's birthday we ask you choose items such as play doh, bookmarks, pencils, healthy snacks, book for the library, etc.
Loose Parts Play
Children enjoy playing outside and on Fridays they can engage with loose parts play items. Children enjoy creating while they play outside. We would like to add to our collection of items. If you have any of the following used items please send bring them to the office.
Loose Parts Items:
- pots & pans
- spoons & other kitchen utensils
- buckets
- tarps
- downspouts
Terry Fox
On Friday, September 20 from 12:45-1:15 pm we will participate in a Terry Fox run/walk. You are invited to come and join us as we move our bodies and 'try like Terry'.
Student Safety
Safety is of great concern for all of us as we work together to provide a safe and caring learning environment for our students.
- Please ensure to give all yellow buses priority as they get students safely to and from school.
- When using the south parking lot (staff parking) please park in the stalls and use the sidewalk to avoid walking in front of or between the buses.
- Please remember when driving your child to school that the school zone with a speed of 30 kms/hr is from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Also, we want to work together to ensure everyone is crossing safely within parking lots and on the roads.
School Fees
All outstanding school fees from the 2023-2024 school year are now due. To avoid going to collections in September, please log into your PowerSchool account to pay for your child's school fees.
