Message from Mrs. Bowman, Principal
As we come to the end of another great school year, I want to focus on these three words: growth, resilience, and celebration. These are the three words that sum up this year for me.
Growth: Both our students and staff have grown so much this year. We held high expectations, and everyone was pushed to try new things all leading to student and student confidence and academic growth.
Resilience: Every year brings its own unique challenges, but our staff and students always meet adversity head on with smiles on their faces. Our building is full of problem solvers that think outside of the box. We are thinkers that ask and answer questions. The word “can’t” is not in our vocabulary.
Celebrate: Nothing in life comes easy. All the hard work and dedication of our staff and students brought us student achievement and growth data that we can be proud of. Here are some highlights:
- We already have 129 students that have passed the 3rd grade IREAD assessment this year. WOW! And those numbers are still growing through the end of summer! We will be able to release the final percent passing very soon!
- We already have over 75% of 2nd graders passing the third grade IREAD test, and that number is still growing through the summer as well!
- Our English Language Learners take the WIDA assessment each year to measure their growth. We had 33 students that grew 1 level, 15 students that grew 1.5 levels or more and multiple students that were dismissed from the program. These are some of the highest growth numbers we have ever seen!
- ILEARN scores are still embargoed too, but our initial numbers look very good. Typical growth we shoot for each year is a 2-3% gain. We had some testing categories improving up to 11-12% in growth.
I couldn’t end the year without sharing these achievement celebrations with you.
Our final celebration shout outs go to Mrs. Abraham, Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Gibson, and Mrs. Nation. These ladies will all deservingly move into the next part of their journey into retirement. Ladies, thank you to all your years of service to students and families, especially your 80+ years served in HSE Schools (75+ at FCE). 😊
Have a wonderful summer everyone!
Returning families, look for an email to come from me with beginning of year information on 7/29/25.
