2024 is an election year. If you will be 18 years old on or before November 5, 2024 you can take part in the national, state and local elections. Voter registration is required. It is not only a right, it is a responsibility! If you can, VOTE!
Voting is a civic duty that you can register for at any time, when you come of age. Even if you cannot vote in the November 5th election, you can be prepared for the next election cycle. If you are 17 years old, you can submit Voter Registration on November 6, the day after the election. It is a quick and easy process. You can complete your registration through the WV Secretary of State’s Office. It is not only a right, it is a responsibility!

Military Branch of the Month - U.S. Navy
The Navy is a branch of the U.S. military that operates primarily at sea, but also on land and in the air. It plays a crucial role in national defense, humanitarian missions, and global security.

One of the unique aspects of the Navy is the chance to travel the world. Sailors visit various countries, experiencing different cultures and environments. This global exposure can be both exciting and educational.
Notable US Navy Service Members
- Michelle J. Howard - The first woman to become a four-star admiral in the U.S. Navy and the first African American woman to achieve this rank in any branch of the U.S. military
- Roger Staubach - before becoming a legendary NFL quarterback, he had a notable career in the U.S. Navy. A graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1965, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1963, Staubach served four years of active duty. His service included a tour in Vietnam as a Supply Corps officer.
- John McCain - During the Vietnam War, McCain’s plane was shot down over Hanoi in 1967 during his 23rd bombing mission. He was captured and endured five and a half years as a prisoner of war, facing severe torture and solitary confinement. Despite being offered early release, he refused, insisting that those captured before him be released first.
- John F Kennedy - Kennedy was the commanding officer of PT-109, a motor torpedo boat. In August 1943, PT-109 was struck by a Japanese destroyer in the Solomon Islands. Despite being injured, Kennedy led his surviving crew to safety, swimming for hours to reach a nearby island. His leadership and bravery during this incident earned him the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, as well as a Purple Heart.
