Ellie will be attending Wesleyan University in the fall while continuing her track career. Andrew will be attending Bates College and plans on majors in mathematics, with the goal of becoming a math teacher. Congratulations to both student-athletes.
Earth Day
Masco students were involved with Earth Day events in the tri-town over the last few weeks. Here are some photos of them in action.
Spanish NYC Trip
Last weekend Señoras Sampietro and Croteau accompanied 18 freshmen on a Latino Cultural Trip to New York City. The day they arrived they went to a salsa class at Salsa Sabrosa where the students learned the steps and then performed a salsa dance. That night the group ate at a restaurant with typical Argentine cuisine in the West Village where all the students ordered in Spanish. Saturday they explored the Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights. They walked through Quisqueya Plaza and hiked up to the MET Cloisters, an offshoot of the MET Museum that specializes in European art and architecture from medieval times. They later traveled to Spanish Harlem and toured El Museo Barrio which focuses on Latino and Caribbean art, specifically art from Puerto Rico. Saturday night they ate at a Cuban Restaurant called Havana Central Times Square where they dined on sandwiches cubanos, empanadas, arroz con pollo and churros. Later that night they visited the Empire State Building and saw stunning views of the city. Finally on Sunday the group went to the MET Museum and explored Hispanic painters from various time periods such as Picasso, El Greco, Juan Miró and many more.

Freshman Walk Fundraiser
The Freshman Walk is next week! Our collective goal is to raise $16,500! We are asking each student, and Peer Leader, to raise $100. The only way we achieve this goal is if we work together as a community, which is the focal point of the Peer Leading program.
All donations need to be submitted to Mr. Kelsen (room H2220) by Wednesday, May 15th. We can accept both cash and checks (made out to Masconomet).
