Hooray for Pre-K

Week of January 27

Chocolate sales START NOW!

A form was placed in your child's folder last week for you to say YES or NO to chocolate sales. Please read ALL the info to make sure you understand about the fundraiser. Return the form signed to get your first box and have fun SELLING!!

Pre-K will be performing on Feb. 27th at our Black History program that will be from 6-7:30 PM. I am not sure about what time Pre-K will perform, just wanted to give you the date and the time. We will be performing a song with Kindergarten on our stage.

Important dates

Feb. 2-No school-District holiday

DATE CHANGE***Feb. 6 100th day celebration-Dress up like an old person or wear a 100 day decorated T-shirt.

Feb. 13- Valentine card exchange- No party-just card exchange

Feb. 13- 4th six weeks ends

Feb. 14-No school-District holiday

Feb. 17- No school- Presidents' Day

What we will be learning this week

We will start our study on transportation and travel.

Colors- black, gray, pink, white, brown, red, blue, green, orange, purple and yellow

Shapes- circle, square, rectangle, triangle, oval, star, rhombus/diamond and heart

Writing - Writing own name; writing CVC words; review touch pull down/ strokes up and down, slant left, slant right (drawing shapes)

Math - addition problems up to 8, capacity and weight, introduce octagon

Reading -Introduce letter Ee and and its sound. Review letters: H, B, M, A, S, T, I, F, N, O, P, C, K, U and L.

Science: Discuss engines, trucks; magnets, attraction

Social Studies - Discuss the past, present, and future: Travel locations

Extra pair of clothes with the changing weather

Please make sure your child has an extra pair of clothes (pants, since it is getting cooler) in their backpack for emergencies. Sometimes we don't make it down to the bathroom in time or we spill our lunch on ourselves. Having an extra pair of shorts/pants and underwear in a baggie will keep us from having to call you in the middle of class. We can just change and clean up and get back to learning.

Birthday Treats

We would love to honor your child on their special day! We know it means so much to them to share it with their friends. Any food treats need to be "store bought". Mini cupcakes are just the right size! Please contact your child's teacher so you can find out how many students are in the class.

Reading every day/night

Reading each day/night to your child is so important. Click on the picture to see just how it will help your child and their success in learning. Bonus: It is great one on one quality time with your child.

Dress Code

Colors for caring

On the first Wednesday of each month, you may wear a color shirt that helps support a cause that is special to you. You can click on the picture to see colors and what cause they represent.
