NEW TEACHER ORIENTATION
Our district welcomed 35 new teachers during the New Teacher Orientation held on July 30-August 4. Despite a power outage on July 30, the entire 4-day in-service was a success, with new teachers attending presentations on curriculum, instruction, trauma-informed care, special education procedures and many other helpful topics. Teachers also met their principals and support providers.
EARLY LITERACY
On August 3-4, the district partnered with WestEd and the Monterey County Office of Education to train over 20 teachers in grades K-3 in early literacy. The 2-day series served as the start of a full-year program to provide early grades teachers with tools and strategies to support early literacy.
START OF YEAR ACTIVITIES
Our teachers and many classified staff returned to sites on August 5 to begin three days of professional development. Topics included Reengaging Students, Social Emotional Learning, Hatching Results, Early Literacy, CPR, and many other topics.
