Greetings Shaw Montessori,

This week will be full of fun and learning!

Our Fun Run kicks off on Tuesday with a pep rally and spirit days. Our kickoff assembly will be held on Tuesday, 10/22. Then we will build the fun:

Throwback Thursday-wear an old Fun Run shirt

Friday-inside out backwards day

Monday-School Spirit Day, wear teal and purple

Tired Tuesday, wear your pj’s

Wednesday-wear your new fun run shirt

The classroom donation links are live under your teacher’s name. Let’s go! We have an audacious goal!

On Wednesday, we will celebrate International Day of the Child. Our parade begins at 10:00 and ends at 11:00. Please expect a communication from your child’s teacher sharing the special ways they will be celebrating this day in the classroom.

Saturday, Mr. Pozo and members of the Shaw Honor Choir performed during the greater Phoenix Music Festival! Congratulations to our student musicians, you sounded beautiful!

Congratulations also goes out to Ms. Chans class with Ms. Heather for their classroom quilt project which was entered into the State Fair competition and earned 1st place! The students took a trip to the fairgrounds Friday to admire their handiwork on display.

Note from the Nurse: Parents of preschool/kinder please make sure your student has at least 2 outfits at school for potty accidents. I have given out a lot of shorts/underwear this year and most have not been returned. Please return clothes that are borrowed from the nurse’s office after cleaning them. Greetings!

Welcome back everyone! I hope it was a restful break. Thank you to the dads that came out over break and helped install the corrugated panels on the fence. It looks great and gives our neighbors some much-need privacy. Dad workday might be a new event in the spring.

This was our first week for entomology. Entomology is the scientific study of insects, or arthropods (animals with jointed legs and an exoskeleton). Thanks to Ashli Estrada and Lauren Kutsko, we have acquired a diverse array of insect specimens from ASU. The students have really enjoyed looking at the different pollinators, decomposers, and predators. Thanks for brokering that deal you two! More to come in the upcoming weeks.

We caught another rabbit on campus. These rabbits were born in the furrows under the purslane and watermelon. We have now saved three of them! Turkeys are also back on campus. Go say “hi” and feed them delicious treats.

· December 3rd & 5th (holiday concert afterparty)

· February 22nd (2nd parent workday)

👟 Fun Run Program Kick Off Tuesday 10/22 - Please be sure to register your student(s) for our 2024 Fun Run/Color Run program at www.MyBooster.com if you have not done so already. Anyone pre-registered before kick off day on Tuesday will be automatically entered into a drawing to WIN a $50 Gift Card. We are trying to hit a school goal to be 90% registered before program kick off, so if you have been putting it off now is the time. Registration is fast and easy so what are you waiting for?

🗺 For those new to our community one of our favorite Community Challenges every year is to fill in our map and track all the states and even different countries we can recieve donations from to help support our school. Lets all reach out and see how far around the world we can spread our Shaw Stars Spirit. Once registered you can easily share links to your students donation site from the dashboard page via email, text message and even on social media pages.
