Opening of School Celebrations
This year to get us started on our new adventure as Lower Moreland Middle School, our staff planned Opening of School celebrations for grade 7 and grade 8 students.
Our seventh grade celebration focused on helping students get oriented to the new space and building relationships with each other and our staff members. Mrs. Esposito headed up the planning of this event with the Grade 7 team. Students participated in a scavenger hunt, LMMS trivia, and Minute-to-Win-It style games. They also enjoyed a lunch social where they could choose from a variety of activities. Thank you to Mrs. Esposito for heading up this effort and our Grade 7 team!
Grade 7
Teambuilding at TreeTrails Adventures
These courses were challenging, and our students were up to the challenge. It was exciting to see them try something new, support each other, and find ways to navigate obstacles in the trees. Many of their teachers joined them on the course.
Thank you to our eighth grade team of teachers for all of their assistance and participation on this trip! We had a great time and hope our students enjoyed this team-building experience as much as we did!
Grade 8
Students Test Their Design Skills in STEM Connections
STEM Connections
In Mr Barnhart's STEM Connections class, students are diving into the engineering design process through hands-on projects. Recently, they've explored the principles of aerodynamics by constructing paper airplanes, tested buoyancy and marine engineering with tin foil boats, and engineered sturdy bridges.
Currently, the class is focused on a project about hi-tech farming and its potential to address the global food shortage. Using K'Nex, students are designing and prototyping innovative machines that could revolutionize agricultural practices. This STEM curriculum not only fosters creativity and problem-solving but also empowers students to think critically about real-world challenges. Stay tuned for more updates on their exciting journey in STEM!
LMMS Field Hockey
The Field Hockey season is now underway. The girls are working hard during practices to learn the game and improve their skills. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams did well during their scrimmage last week, and they anxiously look forward to their first official game of the season this week! Good luck!

FirstView Bus App for Families
Lower Moreland Township School District has partnered with FirstView which is an app for parents that allows for direct access to the status of your child’s bus. FirstView GPS tracks the bus on a map and allows you to set up a customizable geo-fence around your pick-up/drop-off location, so you can be alerted when the bus is close. You can customize your notifications on the app.
This is a free app for parents that can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Here are the instructions for getting started with the app: FirstView Bus App. The instruction sheet has the district code and a list of the bus routes that are needed to register. Using this app is optional. The district will continue to send Connect Ed notifications about the status of bus changes or significant delays.
