Principal Message
Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
I hope this finds you well and excited for a new school year to begin at Cherry Crest! This July, I enjoyed a full month of family time and exploring with my three kids. A summer reset was just what I needed, and now I'm back in the office preparing for your amazing students, and very much looking forward to year two serving as the Cherry Crest principal.
Here you'll find important updates and information related to the start of the school year. I hope you'll join me and our assistant principal, Amy Chu, at our Principal Pops & Playdate event on August 29th from 6-7 PM on the playground. This will be a wonderful chance to meet one another and other families prior to day one. Self guided tours of the building, welcome packets, and popsicles will be available to all!
Feel free to contact me (stedmane@bsd405.org), or our assistant principal, Amy Chu, (chua@bsd405.org), or our office manager, Connie Kramer (kramerc@bsd405.org) with any questions you may have.

Transportation Information for 2024-2025
For eligible riders:
• Are students living outside of the 'no-transportation zone' and within Cherry Crest's school boundary
• Eligible riders will be assigned to a bus stop closest to their home that is safe to walk to
• Eligible riders do not need to sign up for transportation*
• Route information will be sent via US mail about 2 weeks before the first day of school
For open enrolled students:
• Use the link below to apply to be on a waitlist for transportation
• The link leads to a form that must be completely filled out
• The completed form will also serve as a place holder. The earlier a form is completed, the better chance of an assignment

Kindergarten Events & First Day of School
Kindergarten families should have received a sign up link to attend our Meet A Teacher event on August 26th or 27th. This is a special time with one of our kindergarten teachers to get to know your child in a classroom and learning setting. Children will attend this meeting individually and without their guardians.
Class placement information will be shared with families on August 29th. Families will be able to sign up for a Family Connection Conference on September 3rd or 4th to meet their teacher and see the classroom. Children and their parents/guardians are encouraged to join!
The first day of school is on Friday, September 6th at 8 AM. You can line up with your child in the gym as early as 7:40 and walk with them to class to see them off on their very first day of elementary school.
If you didn't get a link for the Meet A Teacher days, please email, Connie Kramer, at kramerc@bsd405.org.
Class Placement Communication & First Day of School for Grades 1-5
Families will receive class placement assignment communication on August 29th. Please know that we take your input, academic and social-emotional data, classroom experience, and educator expertise into consideration when creating classes. Class placement is a complex process, and we work diligently in the spring and throughout the summer to create balanced classes that benefit all our students.
If you see an assigned teacher in ParentVue, please understand this is not finalized and changes are often made in August prior to class placement communication. Should you have questions or concerns, you can direct those to stedmane@bsd405.org.
The first day of school for grades 1-5 is on Tuesday, September 3rd, beginning right at 8 AM. Families may line up with their student in either the cafeteria (K-2) or under cover area (3-5) at 7:40 AM. Our first bell rings at 7:55, and we'd love families to join us in the classrooms for the first 10 minutes of your child's day. Come see the classroom, say a quick hello to your child's teacher, and then join downstairs for a PTSA and principal welcome and coffee in the cafeteria.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Students may begin arriving on campus at 7:40. K-2 students line-up in our cafeteria, while 3rd-5th graders line-up in the undercover area on the playground. Both areas will have supervision beginning at 7:40 AM. Students will be dismissed into the building starting at 7:55 AM. All students arriving after 8:00 AM will be considered tardy and must sign-in through the front office.
If you are dropping off your child by vehicle, please review the map attached below for instructions. For both drop-off and dismissal times, we request families follow the traffic flow indicated in the map.
If you are parking your vehicle to drop off your child, there is guest parking available, also indicated in the map.
With limited space and a narrow way in/out of our building, please keep in mind morning drop-off wait times are often longer than expected. Please plan ahead by planning to arrive at Cherry Crest by 7:45 AM to avoid the possibility of your child being tardy due to being stuck in traffic.
PTSA Carnival & Fundraising Event
SAVE THE DATE for our first PTSA event of the year! Bring the whole family for some fun and games on October 4th from 4-6:30 PM. More information will come home soon, including details about fundraising goals, prizes, and ticket information.
We hope to see you there! 💗
