Hillcrest E-TECH Newsletter
September 2024
From the Desk of Ms. Ulloa
Greetings, I am Veronica Ulloa, the Assistant Principal for Hillcrest E-TECH this year. I am excited to embark with you on this journey and to support our students’ path to success!
For New E-TECH families, I’d like to share a bit about myself:
I am entering my 25th year in education and my 19th year in Dallas ISD. I began my journey as a math teacher then became an instructional coach, while coaching soccer at the high school and middle school level. In 2016 I transitioned to working with the Early College program as a Workplace Coordinator, learning so much as we implemented the P-TECH foundations and teaching practices. In 2019 I became an Assistant Principal here at Hillcrest over Science and Career and Technology Education (CTE), then more recently, working with the Math Department. Now I am celebrating my second year leading the Hillcrest E-TECH program.
My upbringing has taught me that with effort and perseverance we all can accomplish what we set our minds to. I grew up in a household where my generation was the first to attend college and wholeheartedly understand the struggles some of our students face. I am a life-long educator and believe in the unique potential of every student. I strive to give our students the opportunities, tools, and voice to explore their ability to learn, achieve, and succeed. I believe that with collective support, every child will meet their full potential. I am committed to guiding and leading our students toward a bright future!
For ALL E-TECH Families:
I want to thank you all SO much for your patience as we have navigated schedule changes over the last few weeks. I am very happy to announce that we have extended offers to two wonderful candidates for our 9th/10th and 11th/12th grade counselor positions. We are just waiting for the hiring process to be completed before introducing them to you.
In addition, welcome to the four new staff members on our hall this year:
- Ms. Quintana teaches Algebra II Honors.
- Mr. DeHorney teaches MAPS (Methods of Academic and Personal Success) and coaches Cross Country.
- Mr. Goodson teaches English II.
- Mr. Federico Garcia is our new program aide and travels with the students each day to Richland College.
