Welcome To Week #25
Diamond Bar High School and the Walnut Valley Unified School District are proud to recognize Black History Month as we continue to provide our organization with resources to celebrate diversity while building equitable and inclusive practices for our community.
Dear Brahma Family,
Our guidance team is gearing up for next year. Summer registration appointments will be scheduled soon and GLCs will visit classes to begin the registration process for returning students. Please keep an eye out for messages with important deadlines from your GLCs and the guidance office.
Applications are now being accepted for current ninth graders in the class of 2028 who are interested in joining the Pathways Communication Academy (PCA). PCA is a small learning community within our school that provides unique advantages throughout the last three years of high school. All ninth-grade students received an introduction to PCA in their English classes last week. For more details, you can attend the informational meeting this Wednesday, February 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 311. Additional information is also provided below.
We are excited to be offering some new courses at DBHS next year, including two new AP Courses:
- AP Seminar – A new English course for tenth graders, replacing English II Honors. AP Seminar, which has no prerequisites, helps students develop critical thinking, analytical writing, collaboration, and academic research skills. The course emphasizes evidence-based reading, writing, and speaking, aligning with tenth-grade English standards while incorporating cross-curricular content.
- AP African American Studies – An interdisciplinary elective for eleventh and twelfth graders with no prerequisites. This course explores the vital contributions and experiences of African Americans, covering topics such as the origins of the African diaspora, Reconstruction, the Great Migration, African American art and music, and Afrofuturism. It draws from various disciplines, including history, literature, the arts, geography, science, and law.
Our Girls Basketball team fought hard in a tough second-round CIF Playoff game on Saturday night against San Juan Hills High School. Despite keeping the game close throughout, injuries and foul trouble proved too much to overcome. Congratulations to our team on a great season!
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
David Hong
Principal
