April is Amazing Community Members at CGE
To kick off the monthly theme of Amazing Community Members the student council have a week full of giving planned.
April 1-5
Student Council is hosting a food drive for Basic Needs food shelf.
- All items donated will go directly to the food shelf in Cottage Grove.
- This will run the first 5 days of April.
We are going to focus on certain items but ANY non – perishable food item will not be turned away!
April 1st: canned foods (chicken, fish, SPAM, ham, soup, stew, chili)
April 2nd: canned vegetables
April 3rd: Boxed snacks
April 4th: Boxed meals
April 5th: Misc. day: Instant potatoes, PB&J, rice, noodles, herbs/spices, cooking oil and powdered milk
Collection for these items will be in Mrs. Durbin’s room.
If we achieve the goal of 500 units of food donated, ALL students will earn Bomb pops on a later date that will work for each teacher.

Birthday Treats
It has been a common practice to provide treats for the class in honor of a child’s birthday; however we are asking that NO EDIBLE TREATS be sent in to celebrate birthdays. We will make your child’s birthday special in the classroom without edible treats.
If you would like to send a little something to honor their day please consider an alternative birthday treat such as pencils or a book donated to the classroom. We ask that no edible treats be sent in due to varying allergy conditions and other issues related to edible treats in the classroom. Thank you for your help with following this new practice of celebrating birthdays in the classroom.
