The GaDOE has recognized Shiloh Middle School as a Family-Friendly Partnership School

Shiloh Middle School has earned recognition from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) as a Family-Friendly Partnership School (FFSP). FFSP, initiated in 2010, supports Title I schools, families, and communities in fostering inclusive environments to enhance student achievement. Shiloh Middle was one of five schools chosen based on criteria such as geographical location in Georgia, availability of site judges, representation of various school system sizes, and other factors. To qualify, each school team's application must articulate two S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Action-Oriented, Realistic, and Relevant) goals to improve Welcoming All Families and the Community standards within Georgia’s Systems of Continuous Improvement.

Norcross Elementary paints Chairs for charity

Norcross Elementary School students raised $1,200 for the Chairs for Charity program. This community initiative started over a decade ago when Norcross Cluster art educators, Norcross Art Splash Festival organizers, and local volunteers worked together to raise money for Norcross Elementary art programs. Volunteers collected used wooden furniture from area residents and GPCS staff and then selected student artists to transform the furniture into artistic masterpieces. This year, students raised twice as much as last year. The Chairs for Charity project, which Norcross Elementary Art Teacher Bobbie Adamzyk facilitates, is a service-learning experience for young artists that teaches them how their time and talents can positively impact their community.

Community Volunteers repaint Stripling Elementary playground

Stripling Elementary School’s playground received a makeover recently thanks to Juntos, Fiserv’s Hispanic and Latino Council Leadership Council Employee Resource Group. The group brought more than 30 volunteers to Stripling Elementary to re-paint the outdoor playground and blacktop areas, add a full-sized soccer field, and donate soccer goals to the school. Molly McAuliffe, Stripling Elementary’s Principal, appreciates the community support. “The volunteers brought their positivity and passion to the school and shared their sweat-equity in re-painting our entire blacktop with fun play spaces for our students and creating a soccer field on our lawn,” McAuliffe shares. “The students who saw the results the following day were amazed and so grateful.” This is not the first time Juntos has supported the school. In years past, it has organized school supply drives, collected books for classroom libraries, and provided food for families.
