The B.Y.E. Buzz

It was an amazing first week! Thank you all for having your child(ren) at school and helping us work through our morning drop off and afternoon pick up. It is getting faster each day. We appreciate you turning in off of Pippin Apple and NOT turning off of Carver and Elizabeth for drop off/pickup.

• A Young Elementary FAQ/Handbook will be coming home this week. This answers a lot of questions for parents like: what temperature do we play outside, can we send home birthday invites, what if I want to eat lunch with my child, dress code, and much more. Parents will sign the final page and return to school.
• Invites for our new communication system, Rooms, were sent out again today via text and email. Please use that information to sign up today! If you did not get an email or text and are not yet logged in Rooms, please email your child's teacher. Be sure to have the Springdale Public Schools app downloaded.

Save the Date! Come learn more about what your students learn at school, how you can help at home, parents and STEAM, and meet the administrators.

Young Elementary will be sponsoring a Cross Country Team for all grades! Cross Country Team is all about running for distance and practices will reflect that. The practices are to prepare athletes for the 3 district Cross Country races. Please make attempting the races a priority. We are working hard as a team to show growth from race 1 to race 3.

K, 1st, and 2nd will meet Tuesdays and 3rd, 4th, and 5th on Thursdays after school from 3:20-3:50 beginning August 27 and 29. The deadline for permission slips is Friday, August 23 (no exceptions). Students will need to be picked up PROMPTLY at 3:50pm from the front of the school. Students will need running shoes/clothes, a water bottle, and a great attitude. If you have any questions or if a student needs help with obtaining shoes/water bottle/entry funds, please email Mrs. Norwood at cnorwood@sdale.org. The season will finish October 16, 2024.

This season’s Elementary Cross Country Races are tentatively scheduled for 4:15pm:

*Parents provide transportation to races*

A parent can deny permission for any of the following scenarios:

• Video taping of student
• Publication of a student’s written and/or art work within a school, on a school website, or on media outlets
• Use of a student’s first name
• Use of a student’s picture
• Access to computers and the use of internet for instructional purposes
