Welcome to The Defender Bulletin, the BSHS school-wide newsletter for families and stakeholders. This monthly newsletter contains important announcements, upcoming dates, celebrations, and academy specific information. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS/INFORMATION
No Pass/No Drive Forms
To request your No Pass No Drive form, you must scan the QR code on the signs in the hallways or at the Registrar's office. We will email your student email when the form is ready for pick up.
Attendance Reminders
Please turn in a Dr/Appointment or Parent note if your student has missed school within 3 days of your student's return. Notes can be:

AP Exam Registration
The AP exam registration deadline was October 31, 2024. You can still register with a $10 late fine until November 13, 2024. Starting November 14, 2024, there will be a $50 late fine per exam. All information can be found at bit.ly/2025APExamRegistration
After School Tutoring (ESS) / Tutoría después de la escuela
The BSHS After School Tutoring Program (ESS) has begun! Tutoring is offered in Math, English, Science and Social Studies every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 PM. There is no need to sign up in advance. Students can come by the library by 3:30 to check in any time they would like to stay for help. We also offer credit recovery during this time. Please email Stacey.middleton@fayette.kyschools.us with any questions.
El Programa de Tutoría Después de Clases (ESS) de BSHS comenzará el 7 de octubre. Se ofrecen tutorías en matemáticas, inglés, ciencias y estudios sociales todos los lunes, martes y miércoles de 3:30 a 5 p.m. No es necesario registrarse con antelación. Los estudiantes pueden venir a la biblioteca antes de las 3:30 para registrarse en cualquier momento que deseen quedarse para recibir ayuda. Homecoming Dance Info
The 2024 Homecoming Dance will be Saturday, November 9th. Tickets are on sale starting this Friday, November 1st during lunch and will be sold all next week during lunch. Guest forms are in the front office. The theme is SNEAKER BALL, but you do NOT have to wear sneakers (traditional dress shoes are fine too). We hope to see you there!
Yearbook Announcements
Underclassmen (9th-11th) Picture Information
Underclassmen Picture Retakes - November 11th AM Only
Underclassmen (9th, 10, and 11th grades) picture retakes are on November 11th from 8:00AM - Noon. Location to be determined. If your student needs to retake their picture, please complete the BSHS Picture Retake form (bit.ly/bshspictureretakes).
If you forgot to order your underclassmen pictures, you can still order them online. See the picture proof for details, or email Ms. Lynn Schentrup (lynn.schentrup@fayette.kyschools.us) for help looking up your student’s information.
Senior Pictures
Senior pictures for tux and drape have finished. Ms. Schentrup will distribute the Senior Pictures as they arrive at the school.
What if I missed picture days? You have some options:
Call Holifield Photography - (859) 276-2040. You will at least have Senior Pictures to order from them. Your student may not make the yearbook, but you will at least have a senior picture you can order from them. They take 10 senior picture appointments a week, so call them sooner rather than later.
Thursday, February 6, 2025 we are having Cap and Gown photos. We are in need of caps and gowns to use for this photo day, so if you have an alumni who would be willing to let us use their cap and gown, the yearbook staff would appreciate it. Yearbook Sales
Yearbooks are $55 each. Seniors’ yearbooks are $65 because it includes Ship to Home automatically. Yearbooks can be purchased at https://bit.ly/bshsyearbookBUY or see Ms. Schentrup in room 131 to pay with cash or check made out to “Bryan Station High School - Yearbook.”

Senior ads are on sale now. You can purchase your Senior Ad online when buying your yearbook. See information above.
What is a Senior Ad?
Senior Ads is a special message in the yearbook to a graduating senior from their family, friends, or community mentors. They usually include photos from the senior’s childhood and/or a message of support.
You can design your own ad using ShutterFly, or you can send your images and messages to Ms. Schentrup to create a design for you.
Pricing:
Full Page Ad = $100.00

ATTENTION STUDENT ATHLETES!!
Are you a student-athlete dreaming of playing your sport at the NCAA level? Invest in your future and spend an hour on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. Eastern time, understanding the requirements and how to prepare for NCAA certification. Join NCAA Eligibility Center staff, who will walk you through what you need to do to compete at the NCAA Division I, II or III level. Staff will be answering questions live during the presentation, so come prepared to learn how to take your game to the next level! Access the PDF below for more information and registration.
STUDENTS AT WORK/CELEBRATIONS
Teaching & Learning Students Attend Educators Rising Open House
Last week our Teaching & Learning 11 & 12 grade students attended an open house designed for Educators Rising and education pathway students to learn about their teaching programs. The day was interactive with guests, workshops, and a great lunch!
Latin Dance Performances
Our amazing Latin Dance Team performed for 2 middle schools in Madison County. They did a great job and represented us and their cultures very well!
Mariachi Band
The Board of Education had the chance to hear from our incredible Academies of Bryan Station High School Mariachi Band—the only one in Kentucky! What a talented group of students led by talented educators.
Senior Sunrise
149 seniors showed up in the cold weather to be together, have breakfast, and watch the sunrise. We cannot wait to keep celebrating the Class of 2025!! Thank you also to the staff who planned this event and woke up early to be there for our kids!
Pathways to Purpose
Students in Pathways to Purpose participated in restorative circles for college and career readiness. Our first session on transitioning from high school to adulthood was a huge success! The students had the opportunity to meet new people, openly share their fears and worries, and be transparent about this important phase in their lives. Students said it was comforting to know they weren’t alone in their struggles and found the session incredibly helpful.
Cinematography Students Visit WKYT and Wrigley Media Group
On October 30th, the IT Senior Cinematography students visited WKYT and Wrigley Media Group to learn about TV and Video Production. It was a meaningful and fun experience for these upcoming graduates
