Dear Sagebrush Families,
We are ready to begin the 2nd session of our STAR Testing. STAR testing measures student progress towards grade level standards in literacy and math, and is conducted three times per year. STAR testing will be administered on the following dates:
Early Literacy or Reading: Thursday, December 12th
Math (1st-5th grades only: Tuesday, December 17th
Families can help their children be ready for STAR testing by:
Encouraging your student to take their time and try their best
Ensuring your child has a good night's rest the evening before
Having your child come to school on time, between 7:40-7:55am
Making sure your child has breakfast or comes to school for breakfast
You can expect your child's results to be sent home after winter break. Thank you very much for your partnership for successful STAR testing.

Parent Attendance for our Oral Spelling Bee
Did your child come home with a practice packet for the Oral Spelling Bee?
If so, your student will be one of the competitors for our Oral Spelling Bee, and we would like for you to come support your student!
If you are able to attend, the Oral Spelling Bee will be on December 12 (1:45 - 2:45)
Plan to check in at the office with your photo ID.
CCSD is putting on a free, holiday meal with winter gear giveaways.
Families must register ahead of time:
The meal is December 8th at 1, 3, or 5pm.
As the holidays approach, we know many families have exciting plans, but we want to remind you of the importance of maintaining regular school attendance during this time. The weeks before the break are often filled with critical lessons, assessments, and preparations for the new term. Missing school can create gaps in learning that are difficult to catch up on. Make-up work does not fully help students recover missed instruction, and one student’s absence impacts classmates’ progress due to the collaborative nature of learning.
Every school day counts in helping your child grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We encourage you to plan travel and events around the school calendar whenever possible. If you know your child will be absent, please let us know in advance so we can support their continued learning.

Even though all students in Colorado receive free lunch, we are asking families to fill out the free and reduced lunch application because it helps us maintain our Title I status. Title I is a Federal program that provides funding based on the number of students eligible for free and reduced-price lunch, and these funds support additional educational resources, programs, and services for students who need them most. By completing the form, even if you don't think you qualify, you ensure that our school continues to receive critical funding to support all students. Your participation makes a big difference in maintaining these important resources!
