Cheetah Spotlight
Sunset Valley Elementary Community Smore 24-25
Week 7: September 30th- October 4th
Principal Message
Dear SVE Cheetahs,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! As we enter October, our school is looking forward to a variety of engaging events. Please note that this week is a short one, with students off on Thursday and Friday. Our teachers will be participating in a professional development day on Thursday, focusing on Tier 2 interventions to better support our struggling learners.
This week, you will receive information from your child’s teacher regarding scheduling a parent-teacher conference (PTC). PTC day is on October 14, but teachers are available to host conferences any time starting the week before or after.
Later in the month, we will continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, host author visits, have a book character parade, and enjoy our Fiesta event. Please keep an eye out for updates on these activities, as your participation will be essential to their success.
This week, I will be dedicated to preparing our teachers for their professional development day and attending grade-level team meetings.
Lastly, we look forward to honoring our wonderful custodians for their hard work and dedication.
Warm regards,
Elaine
Custodial Appreciation Week
Let's Celebrate Our Amazing Custodians
We appreciate our Custodians and Groundskeepers this week for all that they do to keep our campuses looking beautiful, healthy and safe! Our custodians are truly the hardest working and most caring staff I have ever encountered, so grateful for them!
Feel free to show your appreciation by sending them cards, treats, hand shakes, and or a huge smile and thank you for all that they do.
Animal Policy on Campus
Important Notice: Animal Policy on Campus
Parents and/or Visitors, we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing any animals on to our campus grounds. Animals are prohibited at school, as well as we want to mindful of everyone’s possible allergies and/or fear of dogs and cats. This includes bringing dogs to campus for outside lunch.
Traffic Concerns
Traffic on Jones During Dismissal
We are actively working with Sunset Valley Police to alleviate the neighborhoods traffic concern regarding blocking the intersection of Jones Road and Westgate in the afternoons. We have made slight adjustments to the front drop off area this week. We have moved the arrival lines up a little further to allow more cars to be in the circle drive. We ask that you please pull as far forward as possible when waiting for your student(s). We also ask that you DO NOT get out of your vehicle. We will help your student(s) get into their car and shut the door. If you are needing to help your student(s) buckle their seat belts, we ask that you pull up and into the first two visitor spaces in the circle drive to not block the driveway for others to leave.
We thank you for working with us to ensure all our parents, staff, and community are safe.
Teacher Assistant Appreciation Week Highlights
Many thanks to our PTA Board members and families who went out of their way to show ALL of our TA's your appreciation. They were touched and felt valued. We enjoyed seeing them smile and indulge in yummy goods brought to them by different community members.
Furthermore we are thrilled to announce that our dedicated special education teacher assistant, Ms. Diocelina Balaguera, was recognized with a Golden RAVE award for her unwavering dedication and unconditional support of her students. In a heartfelt surprise visit, Superintendent Matias Segura honored Ms. Balaguera at Sunset Valley, celebrating her outstanding contributions to our school community. Her commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment truly makes a difference in the lives of our students. Congratulations, Ms. Balaguera!
