Dear Sunset Valley Families,

I hope you enjoyed the four-day weekend with your kiddos! Whether you ventured out to enjoy our brief snowfall yesterday or stayed warm and cozy at home, I hope it was a refreshing time together.

As we dive into this short three-day week, it will surely fly by! I’d like to give a huge shoutout to our science volunteer judges who showed up in full force last Friday to evaluate our amazing projects. Congratulations to our winners, who will be moving on to regionals! Winners will be announced during Friday’s assembly. If your child placed in the top three of their grade level, Ms. Maldonado, our instructional coach, has already contacted you with the next steps.

On Wednesday, we’re also hosting our Spelling Bee for participating students. For more information, feel free to reach out to Ms. Meza.

Lastly, a reminder that Wednesday, January 29th, is a professional development day for staff, so students will not have school. Following this, we are excited to host our first Caregiver Math Learning Session for all interested parents. Check out the details in our Smore and don’t forget to RSVP!

Nos complace invitar a las familias a nuestros Talleres de Aprendizaje de Matemáticas para Cuidadores, diseñados para ayudarles a apoyar la fluidez numérica y las estrategias de resolución de problemas de sus estudiantes en casa. Este evento interactivo proporcionará estrategias prácticas y recursos que pueden usar para fomentar un aprendizaje significativo de matemáticas juntos.

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring a safe and efficient dismissal process. To address traffic issues during pickup, we’re implementing a new procedure:

• If you arrive before 3:10 PM, you may pull into the circle drive once buses have entered and after-school vans have arrived.
• This change aims to reduce congestion on Jones Road and improve traffic flow for everyone.

Please be patient as we allow buses and vans to leave first to prevent delays.

Additionally, we remind you to follow traffic laws:

• Do not stop or park in the roadway.
• Avoid parking within 15 feet of fire hydrants or near intersections.
• Do not block private driveways, crosswalks, or traffic signs/signals.

  • To ensure the appropriate number of teachers are designated to our campus

  • There are 2 ways to get to Enroll Austin:

    
    

    1. Login to your AISD parent portal account https://portal.austinisd.org and click on the Enroll Austin icon

    
    

    2. Complete the registration application via AISD Student Enrollment.
