Butterfly School News forDECEMBER 2019!!
CHRISTMAS! What a glorious time of year! Long, long, ago, a very special child was born who was like no other! Oh, What a Special night! He spent his first hours in a simple manger surrounded by a loving mother, father and animals! Lying in this manger of wood and straw was the promised Messiah, the hope of the world! In the most humble of settings, our Messiah stepped from heaven to live a sinless life, then willingly and selflessly gave his life to pay a debt he did not owe. This selfless act was done as a gift for you and me, and all others willing to claim his name. This is Gods greatest gift and what Christmas is all about.
Remembering our Teachers, Special Teachers and Safety Team.
Remember, our Faculty Favorites Book is a handy resource to find out a little more about your child's teacher's favorite things, should you be considering doing a little gifting this Christmas. Our specials teachers are also in the book!
Many of you have already come by and taken a picture of your teacher’s information. This book is located just outside my office on the red shelf.

Reaching Out- Helping Others
It was impressive to see all the food our families donated to help others. Our donations were graciously accepted and went to feed families in need. There are families in need all around us, all year long. Find ways to help others not just at Christmas but throughout the year.
...whoever is kind to the needy honors God—Proverbs 14:31
Chapel Chat -Ms. Chris
In Chapel this month we will still be learning that Jesus is the greatest gift of all. 3s and preschool classes will be practicing their Christmas program in the church sanctuary .We are so excited about sharing the story of Jesus' birth as the animals who were there that night. Toddlers and 2 year old classes will be hearing stories and singing songs about Jesus' birth. Butterfly's Christmas program " Oh , What a Special Night" will be Thursday, December 19 at noon. Come share the good news of Jesus' birth with us! Have a wonderful holiday season!
Musical Moments! Ms. Deborah
The month of December in Music Class brings our hearts to the birth of our savior Jesus. The 3s and 4s will be practicing for the Christmas Program all month. We are excited to sing for you and to tell the story of Jesus through the eyes of the animals. The 2s and Toddlers will be singing and moving to Christmas songs while reinforcing all the music basics we have been learning since the start of the year. May God bless you and your family this holiday season!
Amazing Artists at Butterfly School! -Ms. Jennifer
We have been very busy this month finishing our PoP Art artwork and learning about Andy Warhol. Please note that on the back of your children’s artwork it will explain in further detail their artwork and what we are learning in class. Happy Holidays!
Spanish! Ms. Sandra
Hola Hola Amigos, this December we will be reading the Tomie dePaola story, The Legend of the Poinsettia. This Mexican legend tells how the poinsettia came to be, through a little girl's unselfish gift to the Christ Child.
Movement Matters -Ms. Kayli
This month in P.E. we are exploring the ways to move a ball through space! We will also be practicing our gross motor skills by playing running games and doing yoga!
Super Sign Language -Ms. Luella
Merry Christmas! Our favorite game for November was, “Teacher, May I.” The children line up at the back of the room. I roll two dice. One is a regular dice with numbers 1-6. The other one has different kinds of movement-giant step, baby step, hop, etc. Then I sign one of the months’ letters or numbers or colors. If they tell me correctly what I signed then they may say, ‘teacher, may I?’ and then they may move the number of steps and type of steps rolled on the two dice. For December the threes will be leaning signs for J, Y, yellow, four, and signs from the unit, Jesus the Season. The fours will be learning signs for J, B, green, eleven, twelve and signs from the unit Jesus’ Birth. We will also learn about Alexander Graham Bell. And we will learn the chapel Bible verse for December with signs. I hope your season is merry and bright!
Library- Ms. Lee
We are having fun in the library reading, sharing stories, discussing, and laughing. Butterfly students love literature and I love sharing it with them. In December, I'll be reading books about Jesus, Christmas, the start of winter, and the holiday season. We'll also be reviewing how to hold books, turn pages, and the general care of books.
Sensational Science- Ms. Tracy
Because of the Christmas holiday we will only meet twice for science in December. To help Santa stay dry, the kids will be testing different materials to find out which ones are most resistant to water, and Sid the Science Kid will be teaching the kids about germs and how to stay well during the flu season! Have a safe and merry Christmas!
Coding Kids- Ms. Susan
We are taking our BeeBots to a new level. We will program our BeeBots to reach a specific destination. They will decide what commands they need to set on the BeeBot to reach the destination we have designated. If it does not reach the spot we will discuss what the BeeBot did and what changes we can make to get it were we want it to go.
"The ability to solve problems is a trait that is useful in life in general. We all want our children to become excellent problem solvers so that they can overcome any adversity they face. Learning to code gives children the chance to learn this type of skill while they are young and it can help them along the way in life. This is one of the big reasons coding is important to learn."
