Daily Announcements
Student Schedules - Schedules are available in PowerSchool. Students should login to their PowerSchool account and go to "Grades and Attendance", then click on "Standards Grades." Once in Standards Grades, the school year will need to be changed to 24-25 in the drop-down box on the right.
Ready to start driving? – Students MUST request their 1010 Form in the MJHS Attendance Office before going to the DMV to receive their Learner’s Permit. If you have additional questions, please contact Mrs. Jenkins in the school office or email chris.jenkins@maryville-schools.org. 1010 forms are given based on the previous 9 weeks' grades. If you are failing multiple classes, you are not eligible for a 1010 form until your grades are brought up to passing. The 1010 forms are good for 30 days during the school year.
School Supplies - A generic school supply list can be found on the supply list page of our website. Students will be given a list of additional items to purchase from their individual teachers.
MJHS Tennis - An informational meeting about the MJHS Tennis Team will be held August 7, at 3:45 p.m. in the MJHS Cafeteria.
Bell Schedule
Students will report to their Homerooms on both of the Staggered Start Days, August 5 and 6. Starting Thursday, and until further notice, students must report to the cafeteria or the gymnasium before 8:10. In the afternoon, students who ride second load buses will report to the gymnasium as well. This will allow for a smoother transition and appropriate supervision.
Arrival & Dismissal
Please study the following maps to understand our current morning and afternoon traffic patterns for arrival and dismissal. First United Methodist is very gracious in letting us use their drive and parking lot. Please make every effort to follow their requests as we work closely together to make arrival and dismissal better for everyone.
Buses
Please visit https://www.maryville-schools.org/central-office/transportation/bus-routes to find out which bus your student will be riding. This site will also have bus counts and directions for GPS tracking of buses. If you have further questions, please feel free to reach out to Joe Pinkerton, Director of Transportation, at (865)982-7121.
Cafeteria
Breakfast and Lunch are no longer free. Breakfast is $1.60. Lunch is $3.15.
Free/Reduced meal applications for the 24-25 school year will be ready to submit by July 18. Using our online application process is user-friendly and much faster to process than a paper form; however, you may request a paper application from your student's school. Only one application is needed per family.
If you receive any government assistance such as food stamps, Medicare, etc., you DO NOT need to apply. Current benefits from the previous school year will carry over until September 13; therefore, you have 30 school days to update your student's application.
Cell Phones and Earbuds
Students are not allowed to use their cell phone, electronic communication devices, smart watches, ear buds, or headphones during school hours. From 8:10am - 3:20pm, students may not place or receive calls, send, or receive text messages, take photos or videos using electronics unless explicit permission from an administrator or teacher has been given. Student cell phones should be placed out of sight, in backpacks and should not be used during class change, lunch, etc. In circumstances where students need to communicate with parents during the school day, students may use the front office phone to contact parents. Students who violate cell phone/ electronics policy can have the device confiscated, and policy is followed based on the number of offenses.
The school violation policy is as follows:
- 1st Offense: Phone confiscated, parent contacted, student allowed to pick up phone at the end of the day.
- 2nd Offense: Phone confiscated, parents contacted, parent picks up device at the end of the day.
- 3rd Offense: Phone confiscated, phone held 2 days in office, parent pick up after hold.
- 4th Offense and Beyond: Phone confiscated, Admin Conference, student must check in device to front office daily and discipline progression begins.
NEW...MCS Optional iReach Protection Plan
MCS is moving to an OPTIONAL iReach Protection Plan. This purchase protects and covers against damages to student technology devices (laptops and iPads), and is available for all grade levels.
The 2024-2025 MCS iReach Protection Plan may be purchased at any time; however, it is best to purchase the plan at the beginning of the school year. Damage claims prior to plan purchase are not eligible for coverage by the iReach Protection Plan. Beginning Labor Day, device inspection is required for all new iReach Protection Plan purchases. Additionally, the annual iReach Protection Plan expires at the end of each school year and must be renewed annually.
The cost of the plan is $40 for individual students and $100 for family. The family plan can be purchased through the following link.
NEW...Maryville City Schools App
MCS is excited to launch our new mobile app designed specifically to keep our families better informed and connected to what's going on in our schools. The new Maryville City School District mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices. Do you need to add money to your student's lunch account or purchase tickets to an athletic event? The app is truly a "one stop shop" for parents and students!
The app will...
- Link you directly to your student's grades, attendance, and school schedule
- The latest district and school news
- Push notifications about breaking news, closures, weather, events, and more
- Maps with school locations, phone numbers, and staff information
- Link you directly to your parent PowerSchool account
The app is FREE and available for download today; however, the app will not display your student's schedule and other PowerSchool information until you have signed in with a code. Parents will receive an email with an access code on Monday, August 5.
If you have questions, please email Maria Greene at maria.greene@maryville-schools.org
