New Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Box-Hernandez has lived in Longview, WA her whole life, attending St. Rose from PreK to 8th grade and then R. A. Long High School. She participated in the Running Start program at LCC during high school and transferred to WSUV to finish school. Covid came along and made her student teaching experience one to remember. Mrs. Box-Hernandez studied and taught at St. Helens Elementary in first grade, then got hired the following school year after receiving her BA in Elementary Education. Mrs. Box-Hernandez taught for four years at St. Helens Elementary and is excited to start her new journey at Monticello Middle School. She enjoys playing volleyball and soccer, running, reading, and watching movies. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
School Communication
REMIND APP
We use a variety of ways to communicate with families. Emails are typically the quickest and easiest. If you have not listed your email address with us, please contact us at 360-575-7042.
REMIND App
This year, we will continue to use the REMIND app that can be used on your phone or personal device. You control the type of messages & notifications that you want to receive.
SKYWARD FAMILY ACCESS
Skyward Family Access is an online tool that gives families the opportunity to participate more fully in their students’ education. It offers up-to-the-minute student information, including attendance, schedules, food service balances and immunizations. It also includes a calendar and message center.
If you have not yet obtained a username, submit an application to a school where you have a student attending. Your username will work for all active students living in your household. Each guardian may have a separate user name and password. Click here for a link to skyward family access.
Free Haircuts For Students Opportunity
A program is being offered to our Monticello students whose families may want a free hair cut for their student. It is called “Free Haircuts for Kids” and is being sponsored by local licensed hairstylist and barbers. The event is being held on September 23rd from 1:00-4:00pm in the FCRC.
How it works: With parent/guardian permission your child will be eligible for a free cut when volunteers are scheduled Monticello. Most events will be after school or held at a time when your student will not be missing their ‘core’ classes, like English and math.
Questions: If you have any questions about the program, please contact Martin Rios, our school liaison, at mrios@longview.k12.wa.us. or call 360-575-7055 or 360-720-5316
You will need to fill out the form that was attached in an email from Mr. Merzoian. Then sign and return the form to the school office to be turned into Mr. Rios or lead secretary. Space is limited, so sign-up early or contact Mr. Rios right away. The volunteer licensed hairstylists and barbers are looking to support families that may not be able to get a haircut for their students. However, they are willing to provide haircuts for as many students as they can during their time at Monticello.

See Something Say Something
The picture above helps define mean, rude and bullying behaviors. Students are asked to report these incidents immediately to the nearest staff member. When incidents are severe, students will be asked to fill out a What Happened Form so our principals can gather all of the details to help it stop. All incidents will be handled and addressed by our administration. Students that continue to demonstrate mean, rude or bullying behaviors will receive progressive discipline which could include long term suspension.
