MAKING OUR WORK VISIBLE!
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Visit from Sister Mary Clare
Sister Mary Clare visited our classes this week to talk about social justice.
Our KG classes are baking up at storm this Advent Season.
COOKIE DECORATING INFORMATION
Parents/Guardians of ST.PAT’S Students,
The St.Pat’s School Council is organizing a Christmas cookie decorating activity for all students! All students will be decorating their own sugar cookie during the last week of school!
School Council is supplying the cookies, icing and candy…all pre-packaged and prepared by The Sweeterie. Please note that while we have tried our best to keep the event peanut free, we cannot absolutely guarantee this. We have ordered Gluten Free Cookies this year. If you have allergy related concerns, or any other dietary restrictions, please feel free to send your child with their own cookie to decorate.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
Sincerely Yours,
St.Patrick School Council
Polar Bear Club
We are continuing with our Polar Bear Club at St. Patrick School. This club will allow students dressed in appropriate winter gear, with parent permission to get outside for first and second recess when the temperature with wind chill dips below -25. We believe that regular opportunities for play and physical activity, especially outdoors, improves mood, attention and fitness. For more information on this club please check the permission form sent home. Only one form per family needs to be returned. LETS EMBRACE OUR COLD ALBERTA DAYS!
Our KG/3B buddies have partnered with the GOAT coffe shop in town to spread some Christmas season cheer. Be sure to visit them and leave with a warm drink, huge smile on your face and your heart filled with the love of Jesus!
Lurana Shelter is a 21 day emergency shelter, for women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence and are in need of urgent, safe housing. The women and children who stay there have nowhere else to go. Their home is unsafe and may have left their home with only the clothes on their back. CSS Lurana staff support them heal and start a new life.
When they arrive at Lurana, CSS staff give them a bedroom to sleep in and provide them with a Basket of Blessings purchased by the students, teachers and parents of Elk Island Catholic School Division.
With your donations CSS staff will purchase an adult basket and/or a children’s basket(s). Each basket will be tailored to the specific needs of women and children as they enter Lurana Shelter.
A typical adult basket may include soap, toothbrushes and other toiletries, feminine hygiene products, make-up, hair brushes/combs and other basics.
A typical children’s basket may include necessities like soothers, a rattle or other small toy, a book, a small blanket.
All adult and children’s Baskets of Blessings also include a teddy bear. Clients of Lurana often report that they keep this teddy bear their whole lives.
Thank you for investing in HOPE for those in need in our community!
At St. Patrick School we love getting outside for recess ! We know that fresh air and active play throughout the day is so important for student learning. To ensure your child has a great recess please ensure that they come to school dressed for the weather so they can enjoy their time outside.
