Safety & Security Information
Emergency Response in 203
We want to ensure that all members of the Naperville 203 community are informed about our emergency response protocols. Our district uses a streamlined version of the nationally recognized Standard Response Protocol. This approach replaces potentially confusing terms like Lockdown, Soft Lockdown, and Hard Lockdown, which can create uncertainty for staff, students, and parents during an emergency.
Here are the standard responses used in Naperville 203:
Hold in Place
Used when there is a need to restrict movement inside a school, such as a medical emergency.
Secure Building
Used when conditions inside the school are safer than outside, such as trouble neighborhood or police activity.
Position of Safety
Used when there is an active threat of violence in the school building.
Evacuate
Used whenever it is determined to be safer outside the school rather than inside.
Shelter in Place
Used when weather or other conditions require relocating within the school.
Minga: Digital Hall Pass System
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for our students, we want to provide more information regarding the implementation of the Minga digital hall pass system in our junior high and high schools. This innovative system will replace traditional paper hall passes and offers several key benefits:
Streamlined Process: Students can now request hall passes using their Chromebooks for various reasons, such as visiting the restroom, nurse, or student services. This system reduces classroom interruptions and allows teachers to focus on instruction.
Increased Accountability: Minga enables staff to monitor student movement in hallways, enhancing safety and ensuring accountability during transitions.
Student Ownership: The digital pass empowers students to independently generate their own passes, giving them more control over their movement within the school.
Data Insights: The system tracks the time students spend out of class, providing valuable insights that help us identify areas where additional support may be needed.
Privacy Assurance: Minga complies with all federal and state data privacy standards. Only school staff and administrators have access to hall pass information, and no sensitive personal data is collected or shared.
Emergency Preparedness: In case of an emergency, Minga helps administrators quickly identify student locations and notify emergency personnel if necessary.
This pilot program will run for one year, during which we will continuously assess its effectiveness and gather feedback from our community. Families interested in viewing their student’s hall pass request data can contact school administration for access.
We appreciate your support as we enhance the safety and learning experience of our students.
