The Champion Chatt
November 2024
A Message from the Principal
As we begin November, National Gratitude Month, I want to express how thankful I am for our amazing school community. We had an outstanding turnout at our One East Fall Festival last week. There were more than 4,500 people in attendance! Thank you to our 50+ staff members who volunteered and to our CES PTO for providing candy for the trunk or treat. As this special event continues to grow in attendance, more and more families are connecting and our One East vertical cluster is thriving! Thank you, Champion families for joining us in the fun!
Our Partners in Education continue to surprise us with gifts of time, treasure and talent. In addition to several anonymous donations, Browns Bridge Church, through the Be Rich campaign, donated generously to our school to provide funds for PBIS-books for our vending machine, Chromebooks for students, and Dyslexia training for teachers. In addition, Browns Bridge volunteers recently spent 8 hours updating our campus spaces with new sensory pathway games, pressure washing our outdoor classroom and straightening up our greenhouse and garden areas.
We are overwhelmed by the support of our families and community. Thank you for partnering with us!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Jill Short

Technology
Forsyth County Schools is partnering with Neptune Navigate to provide lessons focusing on digital citizenship. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all our students. During the months of November and December, Chattahoochee students will be learning about digital world basics and their digital footprint.
A digital footprint is the trail of information a person leaves behind every time they use the internet. Every website that is visited, every online game that is played, and every comment or post that is made online will last forever. In elementary school, most digital footprints are created during online gaming. Students will learn that the 3 Ps to protecting their digital footprint are privacy, positive, and permission. To learn more about digital footprint and to continue the conversation, please view this video.
In additional to learning about their digital footprint, students will explore important digital world basics, including what to do if they ever encounter a stranger online, guidelines for online gaming, and being careful about sharing information online. To learn more about digital world basics and to continue the conversation, please view this video.
We encourage you to continue the conversation with your children about their online experiences and to foster an environment where they feel comfortable discussing any concerns. Together, we can work towards ensuring that our digital spaces are safe and welcoming for everyone.
Family Engagement
We are so grateful for our people: our kids, our families, our staff, and our community. Family Engagement Month happens every November in schools across the state of Georgia. It’s such a great month to celebrate our partnership. Thank you for joining us for conferences and sharing time with your child’s teacher. We value our partnership and spending time together brings so much joy. We love sharing resources with our families from our Family Resource Room. If there are any instructional resources you and your child could use at home, please email Kim Sarfaty at ksarfaty@forsyth.k12.ga.us, and she will send these resources home with your child, or you are welcome to stop by the school and pick up learning materials.
Visiting for lunch, being a Watch D.O.G, partnering with teachers, attending PTO events and Spirit Nights, requesting instructional materials, viewing social media, volunteering to serve, reading Campus Messengers… the list goes on and on and on. We love and appreciate family involvement.
We are excited about several upcoming family opportunities this month; ESOL Night, the Dr. Jim and Peggie Morrow Glow Run, our Veteran’s Day Celebration, and Family Literacy Night! We can’t wait to see you soon! Please contact Kim or Belinda if we can ever help in any way. Happy November and Happy Family Engagement Month, Chattahoochee Families!
