A Message From Mr. Lynch
Happy Friday! We have reached the end of another fantastic week here at Brimfield Elementary School, and we wanted to share some exciting news and upcoming events.
First, we are looking forward to our Veterans Day assembly on Monday. The students have been working hard, preparing for their roles, and it promises to be a heartfelt and memorable event. We invite all veterans to join us for this special program. If you didn't get a chance to RSVP, please feel free to come anyway—we would love to have you!
Next week, we are also excited to kick off our annual Book Fair. This is always a favorite time for students to explore new books and spark their love for reading.
On Wednesday, we will be celebrating World Kindness Day. To mark the occasion, we encourage all students to wear a bright-colored shirt or one that spreads a message of kindness. It’s a simple way to highlight the importance of kindness and positivity in our school community.
Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful weekend!
Counselors Corner
Dear Brimfield Families,
In today's rapidly changing world, one of the most valuable gifts we can give our children is the ability to bounce back from challenges and adversity. Resilience is a skill that empowers them to navigate life's ups and downs with grace and strength. This month, we want to explore the importance of building resilience in our children and share some practical strategies to help them develop this crucial life skill.
Embrace Failure as a Learning Opportunity:
Encourage your child to view failure not as a setback, but as an opportunity for growth. Share stories of your own experiences and how you learned from them. Remind them that every mistake is a chance to learn, adapt, and become stronger.
Foster a Growth Mindset:
Teach your child to see challenges as opportunities for growth rather than fixed limitations. Encourage them to embrace new experiences, take on challenges, and believe in their ability to learn and improve.
Encourage Problem-Solving Skills:
Provide opportunities for your child to tackle problems on their own. Guide them in finding solutions, but allow them the space to think critically and develop their problem-solving abilities. This fosters a sense of self-efficacy and confidence.
Validate Their Emotions:
It's important for children to know that it's okay to feel a wide range of emotions, including sadness, frustration, and anger. Help them understand that emotions are a natural part of being human, and provide them with healthy coping mechanisms.
Promote a Supportive Network:
Surrounding your child with a network of caring, supportive individuals is crucial. This includes family, friends, teachers, and mentors who can offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear when needed.
Set Realistic Expectations:
Help your child set achievable goals and celebrate their accomplishments, no matter how small. This fosters a sense of achievement and reinforces their belief in their abilities.
Encourage a Positive Inner Dialogue:
Teach your child to be their own cheerleader. Encourage positive self-talk and help them replace negative thoughts with affirming statements. This helps build inner strength and confidence.
Cultivate Mindfulness and Self-Care:
Encourage practices like mindfulness, meditation, and physical exercise. These activities help children connect with their inner selves, reduce stress, and build mental and emotional resilience.
Model Resilient Behavior:
Children often learn best by example. Demonstrate resilience in your own life, and share stories of how you've faced challenges and overcome them. Your experiences can serve as powerful lessons for your child.
Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection:
Emphasize that it's okay to make mistakes and that progress is more important than perfection. Recognize and celebrate their efforts, and let them know that you are proud of their determination and resilience.
By nurturing resilience in our children, we are providing them with a powerful tool that will serve them well throughout their lives. Together, let's support and encourage our children to face challenges head-on, knowing that they have the strength and resilience to overcome anything that comes their way.
Wishing you a season filled with growth and strength!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Kuzas
SPECIAL ADDITION FROM MRS. KUZAS
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to share some important news regarding a change to my role. Due to maternity leaves occurring in the district, I will be transitioning to the high school in December to help provide support during this time.
While I’m excited about this new opportunity, it is also bittersweet for me, as I will truly miss working with your children in this familiar environment. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, learn, and thrive, and I am grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me over the years.
With my transition to the high school, there will be some new faces here to support your children for the rest of the school year. I will be working closely with everyone in our school to ensure that everyone is supported, informed, and comfortable with the changes. The students will start being introduced to them within the next few weeks so they can start making connections.
Thank you for your trust and partnership over the years. I look forward to staying in touch and hearing about all the great things your children will continue to achieve.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Katie Kuzas

PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach designed to foster a positive school climate by encouraging appropriate behavior. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing clear behavioral expectations in a consistent and structured way. PBIS emphasizes prevention rather than punishment, using data to identify and support students who may need additional help. By recognizing and rewarding positive behavior, PBIS aims to improve student engagement, reduce disciplinary issues, and create a more inclusive, respectful learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
At Brimfield Elementary, students help to identify positive expectations and receive incentives for appropriate behavior. Your child may be chosen to participate in the Principal’s Club, receive a red SOAR ticket, or earn a Principal’s Good News call. The staff at Brimfield works hard to use positive words with students. Instead of telling a child to “stop running” in the hallway, the direction might be to “move throughout the halls in a controlled and safe manner”. Thank you, in advance, for partnering with us and using positive statements with your child. We are very proud of our PBIS program and look forward to celebrating the great behavior of our young Falcons!
