Dear Father Doyle Families,
Another great week of learning at Father Doyle! I also look forward to seeing many of you at Paint Night tonight, beginning at 6:30pm!
I want to take an opportunity to thank Mrs. Carol Harkness for her dedicated service to Father Doyle over the past seven months. Clarifications Regarding Travel Guidelines and Department of Health Regulations
With April Break approaching, a few reminders regarding Rhode Island Department of Health guidelines and travel policies:
- Please continue to review the screening tool with your child each morning. If your child is experiencing symptoms, please do not send them to school.
- If your child is experiencing symptoms and you are not sure of the appropriate next steps, please contact the school. Nurse Patti is happy to provide further guidance and direction.
- As with all elements of this virus, travel policies continue to evolve as the virus and our response to it also evolve. Our current travel policies are as follows:
If your child has traveled to a state with a high community spread rate according to the list maintained by RIDOH, they must complete one of the following two options in order to return to school:
- A 10-day quarantine with a negative PCR test result that was obtained no earlier than five days after returning to Rhode Island. Please note, even with a negative test result, the quarantine length is 10 days.
- A 14-day quarantine with no negative test required. Testing is still encouraged to safely return to school; however, it is not required if quarantining for the full 14 days.
The list of states maintained by RIDOH changes regularly, so please check frequently if you are planning to travel.
We are aware of the test out option provided on the RIDOH website. The reason for maintaining the quarantine is based upon continued guidance from the Department of Health, which strongly encourages schools to maintain a quarantine requirement in regards to travel. This is due to the way in which the virus develops and presents in individuals. It is possible that an individual tests negative the day he or she returns from traveling despite having contracted the virus during travel. This is because the individual has not developed a high enough viral load to result in a positive test. If this individual were to test again in two to five days, they would test positive. Hence, the Department of Health still recommends quarantine when returning from a hot spot, though permitting the test-out option in certain circumstances.
Please note that individuals who are fully vaccinated and/or who have contracted COVID-19 within the past 90 days are exempt from travel restrictions.
As with everything in this pandemic, guidance and information is constantly shifting. If we receive additional or updated guidance from the Department of Health, we will communicate this to families as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Lunch Menus for May due April 16th!

Wishing you all the very best this weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

Current RIDOH Quarantine Guidance (Non-Travel)
On December 10, 2020, the Rhode Island Department of Health released new Quarantine Guidance for confirmed close contacts of a positive case. A detailed summary of this guidance can be found here.
Generally, the guidance allows for:
- 14 Day Quarantine for Immunocompromised and/or Long-Term Care Staff
- 10 Day Quarantine for General Public (while continuing to monitor for symptoms)
- 7 Day Quarantine with Negative Test at least 5 Days After Last Exposure
The school will continue to address necessary hybrid learning scenarios on a case by case basis in consultation with the Department of Health.
Hybrid Learning & Distance Learning Policies
As shared with families via email we have updated our Hybrid Learning and Distance Learning Policies and Procedures. You can find those changes outlined in the documents attached below, as well as linked here:
Hybrid Learning Letter to Families
Distance Learning Opt-In Dates
In addition, you can view a brief video summary of the updates here. We hope these changes will help make hybrid and distance learning increasingly manageable and effective for staff, students, and families alike!
Probable Cases & Testing Procedures
The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find the RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 that indicate a probable case, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week to schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.
If your child is experiencing symptoms and is being tested, two tests will be conducted at the K-12 testing site - a rapid test with results within 24 hours, and a PCR test with results within 48 hours. Please note, students are not permitted to return to school until both tests are negative and symptoms have resolved. In addition, families must complete the After Illness Return Attestation Form which can also be found on the homepage of our school website under "Important Links."
A reminder that our hybrid learning policies for students absent due to illness or quarantine can be found in our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students and Families as well as in a quick reference guide here.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
