Please refrain from picking students up between 2:45 and 3:10. If you need to pick up your students prior to the end of the day, we are asking that you do so before 2:45pm. The congestion of students and parents inside and outside of the front office at that time is becoming overwhelming for front office staff and admin, which prevents us from providing the necessary support to other areas and priorities in our building.

We do understand that students do have appointments and other engagements that will require them to be released early at different times of the school year. We also understand that our families want to avoid the parking lot traffic. While we can agree that the aforementioned reasons are valid, we are seeing an increase in students being called out of their class and missing the closing activities that are vital to solidifying understanding of the lesson being taught. In addition, students who are routinely tardy miss vital directions and activities to get their day started. It is also causing our front office to reallocate human resources to ensure the safety of the students and adults entering and leaving our building.

**We now have a QR code for you to scan when signing your students in and out of school. Please have your phone ready.**

Wednesday, Oct. 9th is National Walk & Roll to school day. We will be participating again this year. Ride your bike, scooter, roller blade or walk to school. Be safe, wear a helmet and always look both ways before crossing a street. Stop by the table by the bike racks and pick up your sticker and certificate. Dear Healthy Kids Families,

We hope you are settled into the new school year and ready for the beautiful fall season.

The September 2024-Back to School edition of the Healthy Kids Connection is now available on the Healthy Kids website to view and download -- healthykidsclub.org. It is available in both English and Spanish.

The Healthy Kids Connection newsletter contains information on the FREE school wellness programming offered by UCHealth Healthy Hearts and Minds including the 5210+ Healthy Kids Challenge, BstrongBfit, classroom education and screenings and the Healthy Kids summer family programs as well as providing resources on the 5210+ healthy habits.

We look forward to being your school wellness resource in the upcoming school year.

Thank you for your support of our PTA Panda Prowl Walk-a-Thon Fundraiser! Please have your students:

1. Bring their water bottles.

2. Wear comfortable walking/running shoes.

3. Dress for the weather. Layers are suggested.

4. Please note: If rain is forecast please send your students with a rain coat. Only in the case of lightning or extreme weather a backup date of October 15th is set aside.

Above all, we want students to have fun! ALL students will receive a Panda Prowl T-shirt this year courtesy of the Ponderosa PTA.

As many of you have noticed, our new nutritionl services program has menus that have a lot more detail, but are not user friendly. We have created this "shorthand" menu for September attached below. For more detail, or for any changes, view the online menu. Just be sure to change the school to "Ponderosa" and that you are on the "lunch" option, NOT the "ECD lunch"

School Hours:

• 8:00 am - 3:10 pm - M, T, Th, F
• 9:00 am - 3:10 - Wednesdays

Breakfast:

• 7:40 am - 8:00 am - M, T, Th, F
• 8:40 am - 9:00 am - Wednesdays

Please note - students may not be on school grounds before 7:40 am (8:40 am on Wednesdays) unless they are participating in a school sponsored activity. There is no adult supervision before that time.

The YMCA of Northern Colorado offers safe and structured care for Ponderosa students before and after school. YMCA is open from 3:10 pm until 6:00 pm each day after school.
