We want to give a big thank you to our PTO, Tiffany Appollonio, the Hobbs family, the Oakes family, and all the students and families who sent in gifts, notes, and recognition for our teachers this week. We also want to thank Rose's Nails, Randy's Barber Shop, Rick's Freshmade, La Fogata/Zapatas, Raising Cane's, Moo Moo Car Wash, CK Nails, Grapevine Pizza, Gionino's Pizza, Jen O'Neil, Flyer's Pizza, Popeyes, Hangry City, Starbucks, Bath and Body Works, Fresh Donut, and Giant Eagle for donating items to our staff throughout the week. Our staff definitely felt the love this week, and it was a nice way to recognize the hard work of our teachers as the school year winds to a close.

Reminder: Next Saturday, May 17th, we will hold our annual May Dance for our students, from 7-9 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on the district's Box Office website. There will be one day of cash sales on Wednesday, May 14th, during lunch periods. Ticket sales will stop one hour before the dance on the 17th.

In the final week of May, we will be celebrating our students and their successes this year. On Monday, May 19th, we will celebrate our 7th graders during their awards ceremony. All 7th grade students will attend this ceremony that morning. On Tuesday, May 20th, we will celebrate our 8th graders. Students and their families will receive an invitation to attend.

Finally, students will begin their final iReady Math Diagnostic this coming Monday. Please remind your student(s) to charge their Chromebooks over the weekend so they are ready to go on Monday.

Lakeview students will once again be putting on a show this year for Culture Day!

This year’s show will include dances, original songs composed by Lakeview students, and an international fashion show! Families are invited to attend a special performance on Saturday, May 17th from 11am - 12pm in the Lakeview Gym, followed by a potluck from 12pm to 1pm.

Please use this Google Form to RSVP to the event and to volunteer to bring food to share after the performances!

Parents, please be aware of a concerning TikTok trend impacting students in some school districts. While we have no confirmed cases in PLSD, we believe it’s important to proactively address student safety.

• Device Tampering: Students have attempted to short-circuit their Chromebook USB ports using small objects—this poses a serious fire risk.

• Electrical Hazards: Wall outlets can also be dangerous if students insert foreign objects into them.

• Consequences: Engaging in these activities can lead to suspension or expulsion and even criminal charges like vandalism or arson.

How You Can Help: Have an age-appropriate conversation with your child about responsible technology use and the dangers of unsafe online trends.

If your student wants to join the Robotics team next year at the high school, we start meeting for next season on Tuesday 5/13. The team is free to join -- we design, build, code, drive, and compete in Vex Robotics Competitions. Meetings go from 3:00pm to 4:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Current 8th graders can meet out at the flagpole in front of the main entrance to North HS at 3:00pm and Mr. Good will come walk them to the correct classroom. They can also be picked up at the flagpole at 4:30pm.

This is a reminder for parents/guardians who provided medication for their student to use during the school year. In accordance with School Board policy, all medications must be picked up by a parent or guardian on or before the last day of school, Friday, May 23. Any medication not picked up by that date will be discarded.

If you want to get a jump on school supply shopping for next year and avoid the chaos in the summer, order your school supply box now! Boxes are only $35.99 and ship directly to the school over the summer. You and your student will be able to pick up your box during our Welcome Days sessions in August.

The athletic website for both PHSN & LJH is now live. Use the https://pickeringtonpanthers.org/ to watch for announcements! All coaches will be using this website for updates and announcements, so please check here if you have any questions. When you go to https://pickeringtonpanthers.org/ you will need to click on "more" and then Final Forms is under "Athletic Registration".

This form will be linked in each Community Corner update, allowing families to offer feedback to the counseling and administrative team regarding social justice, mental health, academic support, friendships/relationships, etc. Counselors and administrators will review the feedback on a weekly basis and send out any updates to concerns/questions in the next Community Corner update.
