ThunderRidge Weekly Update
August 11, 2023
Patterson's Perspective
Grizzly Families,
It's great to have students back in the building for the 23-24 school year! This week I was able to visit many classrooms and saw many great things happening. Teachers were getting to know students, going over expectations, digging into academic material and having great discussions. (I even learned a magic trick in a math class!) I am looking forward to a great year and celebrating with the class of 2024 at graduation in May.
Senior Parents
It is a bittersweet year for you all. This year will go by quickly, and in May we will celebrate your students at graduation at the University of Denver. We do not have a confirmed date for the graduation ceremony at this time, however, you will be the first to know when we do.
Freshman/New Students To TRHS
There will be a Q & A meeting for Freshmen parents and parents of students who are new to ThunderRidge at 5:30pm on Wednesday, August 16th in the Auditorium. We will go over information about TRHS and how your student can become involved and be successful during their time at TR.
ALL Parents
Back to School Night will be on Wednesday, August 23rd. There will also be a Senior Parent Information meeting this night as well. We are still finalizing times and schedules, but once we have this information we will send it out.
MLO/Bond
On Tuesday, the DCSD Board of Education voted unanimously to place a $66M Mill Levy Override and $484M Bond on the November 2023 ballot. All seven Board directors expressed their strong support and personal dedication to our students and our staff.
The Board also unanimously adopted a compensation resolution that will automatically trigger if the MLO passes. For school district staff, this means pay increases would happen automatically should the MLO pass (with increases being paid retroactively back to July 1).
To learn more about how additional funding would benefit our schools and our staff, visit www.dcsdk12.org/funding. I also encourage you to read through our MLO/Bond plan.
Finally, our counselors have been doing a great job trying to balance classes and schedules. We are only doing schedule changes if a student needs a certain class, does not have enough classes, or needs a level change. Students must email their counselor if they have questions about their schedule.
Thank you all. I hope you have a great weekend and please let me know if you have any questions.
