AMS Student Unions
Student Union Kick off Monday Sept 23 from 3:10-4:00 in room 68!
Are you interested in being part of our student unions this year? The Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Latino, and Native American Student unions are having their kick-off party together on Monday.
Come join us and see what the AMS student unions are all about.
Students will get to spend time with one another and also spend time within their own student unions.
We are all looking forward to seeing you soon!
Eye-to-Eye
Back by popular demand, Eye-to-Eye is back for the 2024-2025 school year!
Your student can join Eye to Eye's Near-Peer Mentoring Program as a Mentee! As a Mentee, your child will collaborate weekly in a small group of their peers alongside an Eye-to-Eye Mentor, a trained college or high school student who identifies as neurodivergent, or with learning and attention differences (such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, or processing disabilities). Check out their website @ https://thendalliance.org/!
Using Eye to Eye's art-based curriculum designed to promote social-emotional development and grounded in the power of the shared lived experience of learning differently in inclusive classroom spaces, Mentors and Mentees will collaborate 1:1 or in small groups on creative projects that grow and build upon the skills proven critical to the successes of neurodivergent youth, like self-esteem, self-advocacy, and perseverance.
We at AMS think of this as an opportunity for your student to join a Neurodiverse affinity group. The group (Eye-to-Eye) will meet on Mondays from 3:30-4:30 in Room 60 here on the AMS campus. Your child can wait in the library until 3:30. The first meeting is still to be determined, but we are aiming for September 30th or October 7th.
To register your student for Eye to Eye's Mentoring program, please click the link below to register your child. Please select “mentee” from the drop down.
Click below:
We welcome any parents to join us!
Tasks to help with include, but not limited to:
- Prepping art materials
- Set up and clean up the room
- Helping foster the mentor/mentee relationship
- Helping direct kids to and from room 60
- Overall supervision
Please let me know if you are interested in helping out.

AHS Football Games
As you may know, tonight is a home football game for Ashland High School. AHS is asking that all Middle School students attending the game be supervised by an adult and sit with the supervising adult in the stands during the game. Please do not drop your student off at the game if you cannot stay to supervise them as they will not be admitted without an adult.
Oregon Battle of the Books
We need your help!
With the loss of our Ashland Middle School Librarian and no replacement for the coming year, we depend on parent volunteers to continue a beloved OBOB program.
AMS has always been a strong competitor in the Battle of the Books competition. We have some amazing students who love to read and compete with other schools for the honor of attending state. This will not happen in 2024-2025 school year without parent volunteers to step up and run our OBOB program.
What would it take:
- 1 coordinator to oversee the program and communicate with all parent volunteers.
- 1 parent per group to organize the practice times with your group…4 kids per group.
(Number of groups depends on the number of students that sign up) - A positive attitude and the love of seeing middle School kids read books.
