CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
This year we have record numbers for our fall sports teams. We have 19 boys soccer players, 17 girls soccer players, and in just the second year of cross country we have 24 runners! That puts us at 60 athletes, just here at school. We are also sending a few athletes to BMS for field hockey and football. It's shaping up to be an active season at WCS!
Bath Book Bash: Tomorrow
Welcome back to school and to great library books! By now, most WCS students have visited the library with their classes. During class this week we talked about the amazing Bath Book Bash that is taking place this Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Patten Free Library park in Bath. We have read books by authors and illustrators who will be at the Library Park and discussed fun events taking place. If you go, remember to pick up an “Attendance Certificate” so that you can win a prize from Ms. Luchies next week. I hope to see many Wildcats there!
HOT DOG!
This week we were joined by Archie, the WCS school support dog. On Thursday and Friday mornings he visited with each classroom and got to know some new faces. He has been enjoying his time with students, and is looking forward to this school year.
BUS NOTE FROM MR. LIBBY
I want to provide you all with a quick update with regards to bussing as we start the new year. One of our drivers was injured just prior to the start of school and we were forced to consolidate two bus routes into one bus run. I know this has created some time delays and hiccups this week. The good news is that your children have been transported to and from school safely and the timing of pickup and drop off has improved each day this week. First Student is working to bring in another driver and we hope to return to our normal five bus runs soon.
In addition to this driver shortage, we also have almost 30 new students at WCS! This is fantastic news and we are thrilled to have new families join us each year. However, with this increase in student population, and the consolidation of bus runs, our buses are at full capacity. For the next couple of weeks, we will not be able to accommodate students riding the bus to a friend's house after school. As always thank you in advance for your cooperation and flexibility. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Libby
The WCS Dental Clinic is happening next week on Monday & Tuesday.
School Picture Day is happening on Friday, 9/13! This year there will be paper order forms that will need to be returned. These forms will be sent home on Monday.
