Welcome to the Fourth Grade!
Ms. Kasey Benson
I am excited to be your student's teacher this year! We are going to have an awesome year! I wanted to share with you a little bit about myself. I grew up and went to school at Winnebago and then attended University of Dubuque. I graduated with my Elementary Education degree with endorsements in Math and Reading. Some of my favorite activities are reading, painting, drawing, and spending time with my family. I have always wanted to be a teacher and am so excited to spend time with your students this year!
Emailing is the best way to reach me, but if you would like to talk on the phone leave me a message if I am not available.

Students of the Week
Every week I will pick two students who I believe qualify to be students of the week. The students who are chosen have been chosen for many reasons. Examples would be that they have reached goals, helped others, tried their hardest, put a smile on another students face, helped me, and many other scenarios. I believe that everyone deserves to be recognized for their hard work and being the great student they are.

Classroom Rules
1. Respect
2. Listen
3. Raise your hand
4. Be positive
5. Be prepared
As a class we took time in the first week of school to create rules that we agreed are the best rules for everyone to follow. We want to create a great learning environment in the classroom to make sure everyone is given all opportunities to learn.
Homework Policy
It is always important that students turn their work in on time. I will allow students to turn in assignments late, but they will only receive half credit for the assignment. There will be some assignments that students will receive completion credit for, so it is important they turn all in assignments.
Forgetful Tickets
I understand that students can become busy or family matters come up and they are not able to complete a homework assignment or maybe they forgot to do it. In case something like this were to happen to a student, each student receives one "Forgetful" ticket at the beginning of each quarter. This allows them to not be penalized because they forgot to complete an assignment. However, if the student loses the ticket in the quarter, I will not give them a new one.
Marble Jar
This year we will have a marble jar where the class can earn an extra recess or I will plan a special activity when the class gets twenty marbles. Marbles are earned in situations where the class meets or exceeds my expectations.
Volunteer Opportunities
