Referendum! Why haven't I heard about it?
There is an upcoming referendum vote on April 2nd.
Although we have sent out a variety of communications and held several opportunities for presentations on the referendum, I have heard the question, "Why haven't I heard about the referendum?"
As your superintendent/principal, I want every parent and community member to be informed about the upcoming referendum. The School Board and I want all to have accurate information about the April 2nd vote, as well as, have the opportunity to have your questions answered.

Lunch Notifications
We are having technical difficulties with our lunch balance notification alerts from the Skyward system. Parents are not receiving low balance notifications.
We are working with our IT professionals, as well as, Skyward staff to problem solve this issue. In the meantime, we ask that you log in to your Skyward parent account to check the lunch balance in your child's account periodically.
Apologies for any inconvenience this is causing. If your family has accumulated a larger than usual balance, we will work with you setting a payment plan that works with your family's needs. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you Mrs. Perona
Mrs. Perona has been the head cook at Brighton for many years AND is a community member here. Mrs. Perona does an amazing job in the kitchen and our students have appreciated many of her homemade dishes. She will be retiring in April and although we will miss her very much, we wish her a relaxing retirement and thank her for her many years of service.
Welcome New Staff
Please be sure to give the following new staff members a friendly Brighton welcome the next time you see them in the building:
Mrs. Renzoni is our new head cook. She has been working with Mrs. Perona on the transition over the last few weeks. She has already planned monthly menus and is adding some new dishes to our monthly rotation!
Mrs. Unger is teaching art to K4, 2nd, and 3rd grade on Wednesdays. She has great experience teaching art projects to groups in the community, and is also a parent in our school community.
Mrs. Richter is not new to our building, but she is taking on a new role on Fridays when she will be teaching art to students in K5, 1st, and 4th-8th grades. Mrs. Richter is a familiar face in the community as well; she is the leader of the Brighton Bombers 4-H.
Mrs. Trachte is joining our first grade class as the long term substitute teacher. She comes to us with great experience teaching first grade and has a certification in both regular education and special education.
Welcome to Brighton School; where STARS are made!
