Welcome to the second half of the semester! We begin November with a time of remembrance and gratitude. BRACE will have a Remembrance Day ceremony on November 8th to remember and honour the sacrifices of those who served their countries to protect their freedoms and values

Thank you to families for attending Parent-Teacher Interviews. We welcome families' input in students' education and well-being. Please reach out to us at any time.

Beginning this month we will have an activity on Thursdays. The focus of the activity can vary from academic, extracurricular, to cultural activities. Please see the upcoming Thursday activities below.

Students who began courses in September will be half-way through their course work. Please make sure students are regularly checking their emails. Teachers also send emails through Moodle: Please check your spam folder to ensure emails from "WCLN" are there.

Every Thursday, we are going to have an activity or seminar!

Students who have been inactive for one week will get an email or call from their teacher. If they are inactive for three weeks, administration will phone. If they continue to be inactive, a letter will be sent home. And if a student is inactive after six weeks, they will be withdrawn from the course.

Beginning Tuesday, Nov. 19, Mr. Chanasyk will take a group of students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am - 11am to use the fitness centre above the West Gym at ÉCCHS.

Anyone who would like to participate needs to get a consent form completed before participating.

Changing into shorts, t-shirt, clean indoor shoes, etc. is required. Any questions, let Mr. Chanasyk know!

Please take a few minutes to log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal to view your child’s most up-to-date grades and comments. Our Real-Time Reporting system allows you to stay connected to your child’s learning progress throughout the year, providing insights into their achievements and areas for growth. By regularly checking PowerSchool, you can support your child’s learning journey and celebrate their progress together. Thank you for partnering with us to foster a positive and collaborative learning experience.

The lunches we provide are limited and are given to BRACE students. If there are extra meals, then Shared students will be considered.

Burger King supplied our students with lunches this past Monday, thank you Burger King!

The “Cell phone policy” has gotten lots of media attention this summer. We know that phones have a negative effect on attention and a negative effect on learning. Working with families and students to ensure a positive learning environment for our students is our goal.

Call the office if you need to get a hold of your student! Please do not call or text them in the middle of class.

Please ensure you are aware of the policy in our Handbook:

BRSD AP 135 - USE OF PERSONAL MOBILE DEVICES AND SOCIAL MEDIA IN SCHOOLS governs device use.

Specifically to BRACE:

1. Students will keep their devices in their backpack or bag and will not use it during instructional time unless for instructional purposes as directed by staff.

2. Students may use their phone at break times and may use it in the classroom only during lunch time.

3. Students need to discuss special circumstances with their teacher and administration. Administration will meet with families to discuss the need and a medical note may be required.

Progressive discipline will be implemented as per AP 135.

Did you know you can check your student’s grades any time! We now use a tool called PowerSchool so that students and families can see their grades in real time - as soon as we enter a grade in, you can see it! More information is provided in another newsletter!
