Faculty & Staff Update: March 31-April 6, 2025
Students Return to School - March 31, 2025
Military Recognition for Graduating Seniors
Each year on honors night, we award the Military Recognition to graduating seniors who has, or has had, a parent(s) that served in one of the US Armed Forces.
The Military Recognition is designed to recognize the sacrifices graduating seniors who are military dependents have made when one or both of their parents have been away serving in uniform. The Youth Action Council paved the way to recognize these sacrifices. Since 2019, graduating seniors have had the option to wear a purple cord with their graduation regalia.
If your child is a dependent whose caregiver was serving away from home, please respond by April 1. If you have any questions or would like your student to receive this cord please contact Destiny McRee at mcreed@etsu.edu or 423-439-5925.

National Civics Bee Finalist & Winner
Congratulations to 8th graders River Smith, Dylan Bumgarner, Anneliese Crider and Branwen Westover for being selected as finalists for the National Civics Bee Contest. Hundreds of local students entered and only 50 were chosen as finalists. This was a project that asked students to identify a specific concern in the local community and then come up with a solution. Students researched their problem, brainstormed possible solutions and wrote an essay that detailed their plan. All 8th grade students worked on the project in Mrs. Ledbetter and Ms. Darnell's classes.
An additional congratulations to Anneliese who was selected as the city-wide winner for her essay and her interview portion of the competition. She won $600 and now moves on to represent our city at the state level.
Way to go Bucs!
