SCHOOL SCOOP - OCTOBER RECAP
HARVEST FESTIVAL
Our annual Harvest Festival was a huge success! We had a fantastic turnout and were thrilled to see so many friendly faces. Families enjoyed a range of activities, from fun games and bounce houses to face painting and time on the playground.
A special highlight was the flash mob performance by Melzafit Dance Crew to "Thiller"- a treat for everyone!
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our generous donors, whose contributions make this event possible year after year. We are also grateful for those who donated items for our raffle and auction and to the teachers who designed wonderful experiences for our students.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event memorable. We are already looking forward to next year's Harvest Festival!
GARDEN WORK DAY
A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out during our first garden work day! Together we tackled the two amphitheater planter boxes, clearing weeds, preparing soil, laying weed cloth and putting in a variety of California native plants. Work also started on a succulent garden with plenty of room for us to add more plants and outdoor seating in the future. PTG funds paid for weed cloth and a new hose for the garden. A special thanks to Mid-City Nursery for their generous plant donation. Donations from Pedrotti Ace Hardware and Sloat Garden Center will help fund some of our future projects. Stay tuned for upcoming garden work days! To follow our progress, please join the Robert Semple Garden Committee group on Facebook.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School
Thursday, November 14th
Students and families are invited to join us at Francesca Park to walk to school as a whole to honor Ruby Bridges, a civil rights icon who, at the age of six, became the first African American student to integrate an all-white elementary school in the South in 1960.
This day encourages students, families, and communities to walk to school together in a show of unity, respect, and celebration of diversity. It’s a way to reflect on the courage and bravery of Ruby Bridges while promoting inclusivity and standing against racism.
Students can be dropped off at Francesca Terrace Park as early as 7:30. Parents must wait to see a staff member before leaving.
