Challenge #6
To give additional time for staff members to complete challenge #6, we are going to extend it into this week. The challenge is to reflect, journal, and discuss the four quadrants above with colleagues answering the following questions:
1. When was the last time you fed a passion of yours? What was it and how long ago?
2. Do you have a passion you have refused to let go or a passion you have missed and want to reclaim?
3. Which quadrant do you think might be lacking the most attention in your life currently? Why do you think focus and effort in this quadrant are lacking?
Challenge #6 is to use your takeaways from last week and transform them into ideas for growth related to wellness. Inform us about your professional learning ideas that will help you and the staff grow personally and professionally. Your ideas could be a specific strategy related to the quadrants or an expert presenter on a specific topic or skill. Please submit your ideas for profession learning at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x2NeGzrns9P9bxKi5Bvs19Z32Tt7kO65Qgx7_Yy31_U/edit?usp=sharing.

Pro Gimkit Account
Exciting news from the world of Instructional Technology- see Schu with any questions or for any assistance!
The district has purchased a pro Gimkit account! Gimkit is a fast-paced, group quiz based assessment tool created by high school students. What is different is that students build in-game "cash" that they can be used to purchase in-game upgrades. You can even import your existing Quizlet flashcards into Gimkit. To get the Pro account if you are new to Gimkit, Go to gimkit.com and click "Sign Up". Under "Which Group are you part of" - select NCCVTSD. Complete all requested info (our school zip is 19709). Then log up in the top right corner (person icon). You should get a verification email- check your junk folder! Go to "Login" again, but this time choose "Continue with Google" and use your NCCVT account. Once you are logged back in w/Google, you should see your account in the bottom left-hand side with your name and Gimkit Pro. If you have an existing account- sign in with your NCCVT Google account and check to see if you have been automatically upgraded. If not, go to "Login" and "Continue with email" and complete the questions as stated above.
If you want to lock a student into a quick quiz- try using a Google Form. Under settings, choose Quizzes, and then "make this a quiz". Under the quiz options, you will find "Locked mode on Chromebooks". By turning that feature on, students will enter the quiz on a locked screen. If they exit the screen without submitting the quiz, you will get an email.
If you want to compare two documents in Google Docs, you can now use the "Compare" feature under tools. See the details here.

Avast Ye Shipmates! This Buccaneer Received a Shout Out!
"A special thanks to Mrs. Tammy Stinson's Nurse Technology One class for presenting possible ideas to control the spread of germs on our campus. Her students did an outstanding job in their preparation for delivering a very compelling presentation. Tammy and her students took a risk by inviting us to their class and sharing their ideas. We appreciate they took a risk and we are going to do what we can to implement their suggestions (see photos above). " ~Chad Harrison & Shanta Reynolds
"Andrea is amazing. Although she is the inclusion team leader, she still gets down into the “knitty gritty” when it comes to helping students. She has been such a huge help to me this semester. This is my first-semester teaching Integrated Math 1 year long. Several of the students have IEPs so having Andrea’s close and constant support makes me feel more confident that I’m doing the best for the kids. I feel that she goes above and beyond to help the students when it comes to the help she is willing to offer. Just another rock star at SG."

Thank you to Dr. Jim Connor, Mrs. Donna Poore, Mrs. Debbie Tuson and Mr. Dustin Craighton for leading a terrific after school professional learning session on effective communication strategies as an intervention response to behavior. ~Shanta Reynolds
Thank you Debbie Tuson for taking a risk and presenting at the math coalition meeting. Several people that attended the session said you did an "outstanding job" presenting the content-focused coaching work that's happening at St. Georges. Way to soar like a hawk at the state level! ~Shanta Reynolds
