Bus Updates
First View has communicated to us that they are training new drivers and hoping to fill these routes with permanent drivers soon.
If a driver does not show up at your route, please call the First View Dispatch number at 843-823-3909, so they can possibly send the bus back to your stop.
Once again, thank you for your patience and understanding.
Open House Reminders
The Gifted and Talented (SAIL) Open House and the Open House for Grades 3-5 will take place TONIGHT (9/5). This is a parent only event, so please plan accordingly.
Doors will open at 5:05 pm for the SAIL Open House. Parents will proceed directly to the Multipurpose Room. At 5:50 pm, Mr. Thomas will conclude his SAIL Presentation, and parents will go to their child's classroom. We will reopen the main doors at 5:50 pm for all parents attending the Open House for Grades 3-5. Parents will proceed directly to their child's classroom.
During Open House, parents will meet with their child's teacher to learn more about the curriculum, classroom policies and procedures, and receive other important information. Open House will conclude by 7 pm.
Don't Forget - Pelican's Snoballs TOMORROW!
Our first Spirit First Friday is TOMORROW. Show your school pride by wearing your SIES gear! Don't have an SIES shirt? No worries! Dress in shades of blue and white to show your spirit.
We will also have Pelican's Snoballs available for purchase. Students will get to enjoy a shaved ice treat during recess. Please see the flyer below for more details and the printed flyer in your child's Thursday Folder.
TEACHERS WILL COLLECT CASH ONLY ON FRIDAY MORNING. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD BRING EXACT CHANGE IF HE/SHE WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A SNOBALL.

Interested in Playing Basketball?
Spirit Night: September 9th
Take a night off from preparing a meal and washing dishes! Join us on Monday, September 9th at Santi's Mexican Restaurant (1471 Ben Sawyer Blvd.) from 4-8 pm for Spirit Night! Dine in or take out....the choice is yours. A portion of the sales will be donated back to the SIES PTA, so be sure to tell them you are there for SIES Spirit Night!
Sandcastle Day: September 13th
iReady Data and Conference Day
Please make special note of Friday, September 20th. This is the district Family Conference Day, and teachers are excited to meet with parents to discuss student progress. There will be no school this day for students.
At this conference, you will receive a printed version of your child's iReady data. Teachers will then be able to review the individual student report with you. Be on the lookout for a Sign Up Genius from your teacher soon!

If you haven't joined our two parent groups at SIES, please take a moment to do so.
- PTA: Our PTA supports the social and emotional well being of all of our students, faculty/staff, and families by providing lunches, family activities like Movie Night and the Sweetheart Dance, organizing Spirit Wear, and so much more!
- FRIENDS of SIES: Our FRIENDS group provides direct financial support to pay for opportunities that would not otherwise be financed by Charleston County School District (ex: Technology Teacher, Spanish Teacher, Interventionists, Green Heart, Wet Lab Tanks, etc).

FRIENDS has already launched the "Give to Grow" campaign for the year. Our school goal is 100% family participation, so donate today to earn your two FRIENDS of SIES stickers!
Important Points:
1) You only need to donate ONCE. Your ONE donation will count for all of your children.
2) You must list EACH CHILD (first and last name) in the "Special Instructions" box. Otherwise, it is an anonymous donation.
SIES Family Night: The Charleston Battery
Our amazing PTA has organized a wonderful Family Night at The Charleston Battery Game on October 5th. If interested, be sure to purchase your tickets by September 28th to receive the 20% discount!

路 Post-Match Autographs: All kids are welcomed onto the field behind the west sideline field
boards for post-match autographs. All fans as welcome to join! No maximum.
Area Opportunities
Cooper River Bridge Run Kids Run
The free Cooper River Bridge Run Kids Run and Family Festival will take place at Stoney Field on September 29th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm with family yoga and lots of outdoor activities and games. All race participants will receive a finisher medal when they cross the finish line. The Family Festival and race are free to everyone, but children 12 and under are required to register for the race in order to participate and receive their free t-shirt.
