Message from Administration
And We Are Off!
Thank you for a great start to the school year! It is always great to get students and staff back into the building and watching the connections made in the first couple of days. Fairmont Jr./Sr. High School is a great place to be and we value the experience your child(ren) have while attending. We are lucky to have strong partnerships between our school district and the community that provides unique opportunities for our student both in and outside of the school. We look forward to continuing to build strong relationships and partnerships with the whole community. If you ever have an idea to enhance the experience of our students, please don't hesitate to reach out.
In Cardinal Pride,
Chad Brusky and Brooke Schultz
Gym Renovation Complete
Over the course of the summer our custodial crew and contractors have been working to update the Main Gym at Fairmont Jr./Sr. High School. We encourage our community to come out to the first home event in this space on September, 17th. Volleyball will be hosting St. James this night. We hope to see you all there!
Pick-up Reminder
If you are picking up your student(s) after school, please be aware of the no parking areas. We have a couple locations where buses pick up students. We try our best to keep these areas free of cars so that buses have the space to safely navigate the area in front of the school and load students as safely as possible.
Cardinals Give Back Day!
If you or a business you represent have a need for some extra helping hands this spring, please consider filling out an application for a service project. The application can be found on the school’s website at www. Fairmont.k12.mn.us, click on Menu at the top of the page, click on Documents and select “Service Project Application 2024.” Applications can also be found on the district's Facebook page and paper copies are located at the Fairmont Jr. Sr. High School office.
All applications are due by Monday Oct. 7th. Please contact Principal Brusky if you have any questions about the service project day by emailing him at cbrusky@fairmont.k12.mn.us or by calling the office at (507)238-4411. We are thankful for all the support the community has provided the school in the past. We hope our “Cardinals Give Back Day” provides you with the same pride in your local schools and serves as a model of the positive things we are able to accomplish when we work together.

Activities Update

The Fairmont Cardinal Hall of Fame will hold its banquet on Saturday, September 14th at 4pm at Fairmont High School Performing Arts Center.
Here are the 2024 Inductees: Eric Hugoson, Mike Hested, Loren Dunham, Paul Mallory, Mike Wubbena, Aja (Walters) Ross, Blythe Bittman, Sarah (Rodgers) Clements and Jeff Janssen. This is free to the public.
I cannot stress enough about the “Little Things” and how they make a big difference. This week I want to make sure that all our student athletes are getting to school on time. School begins at 8:10am. Make a strong effort to be there on time and ready for school. The School also provides a grab and go breakfast that they can take with them to first hour. If we can’t do the “Little Things” it’s hard to be good at the big things.

School Nurse's Message
Medication Forms
Just a reminder that any prescriptions that need to be administered during the school day do need to be documented and administered in the Health Office. These medications cannot be transported on school buses and the completion of the Consent Form for Administration of Medication During the School Day is required. This is a form that needs to be completed annually, so please double check you have taken this important step.
Students Who Become Ill During the School Day
Just a reminder that all students who become ill during the school day need to be assessed by the nurse prior to leaving per our student handbook. If your child tries to contact you during the day to say they are ill, please direct them to the office for assessment. Parents, you are also encouraged to call the office if you receive communication from your child saying they are ill. Our Student Support Team will help locate and provide the assistance as needed. Parents will be contacted if the nurse determines the student should be sent home.

Spotlight on a FJSHS Staff Member
Working in secondary education can be difficult at times because students don't always share the positive impact staff members have on them. Part of this is due to how busy our students are transitioning between 7 classes in a day. FJSHS staff find motivation and pride in hearing their efforts are appreciated. Please consider using the form below to recognize a staff member in the building who has help make your student's life a little better. Maybe it is something your child mentions in the car, or while stilling around together as a family. Sharing they small moments of joy, recognition or appreciation can help us not only bring pride to the work we do, but also help us identify those moments so they can be replicated for your child.
Again, please consider recognizing one of our staff members whenever you hear the impact they have had on your student by completing the Staff Recognition Form.
