Reminders: Drop off and Pick up Procedures
We ask that all families read the procedures related to drop off and pick up to ensure safety for all students and respect our neighbors on the roads surrounding Potter Road.
Morning Drop-Off
- Please DO NOT park on Griffin OR Turner Roads in the morning. If you're interested in walking your child to school, please park on Mary Agnes in front of Potter and walk your child down the main entrance path and around the back of the building.
- Please plan to enter through the back entrance by traveling down Turner Road to Griffin Road. (eventually past the Do Not Enter sign and into the back parking lot)
- Potter Road's afternoon pick-up procedure will not change. You can park on both Griffin and Turner in the afternoon, walk up to the back entrance and pick up your children.
- KINDERGARTEN PARENTS: You are welcome to drop students off in the back of the building as we'll have Kindergarten classroom aides in the back of the building waiting to meet them.
Here's the traffic pattern for the morning and afternoon:
In the morning for drop off behind POTTER ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
- Cars come down Turner Road (sidewalk on your right-hand side)
- Turn right onto Griffin towards the back of the school
- Pass the Do Not Enter signs and enter the back parking lot
- Once you're pulled up, staff will open the door of the car, closest to the building if possible
- If your child is a walker in the back of the building, please make sure they stay on the sidewalk and head on the path to the left of the gate as they make their way toward the building.
- Please do NOT line up before 8:45AM
In the afternoon
- Cars come down Turner Road as normal (sidewalk side on your right) and can either park on Turner or Griffin and walk up to get students
- For afternoon pick up, you can park on both Griffin and Turner and will NOT enter onto Potter Road's property
For walkers
- Please know, at this point, there is no crossing guard in front of the school
Potter Road Family Math Night is Almost Here!
Potter Road's Math and Snack Night is rescheduled for Wednesday, April 24th! This event is a wonderful opportunity for families to share in Potter Road's love of learning math in all different forms. There will be many opportunities for task based learning, hands on math activities, movement activities in math, etc.
Students will have the opportunity to complete a math passport as they experience the various math activities. When students complete their passports, they can trade them in for a math game to take home and do with their families!
We hope that many families will be able to join our teachers to share in the joy of learning math!
Caregiver Feedback Form-Student Placement
The Potter Road School will begin the student placement process for the 2024-2025 school year following the April vacation. This process is for students in grades K-4. Our goal is to create balanced classrooms across each grade level by working through an asset based lens. When working through the placement process, teachers take into consideration each child's learning profile, strengths as a learner, areas of need, learning style, and other peers that the student has relationships with.
Caregiver feedback is an important part of the process. We invite caregivers to share information about their child that they feel will be beneficial to the placement process.
When sharing feedback, we ask that caregivers adhere to the following:
- Caregivers should provide information about their child ONLY.
- The names of other students should not be used.
- Requests for specific teachers should not be made.
We thank you in advance for sharing important information about your child. All feedback needs to be submitted by Friday, April 12th. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. Thank you.

MCAS Dates 2024
Every spring, students across the state participate in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), which are tests that measure the degree to which students are learning the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks relative to the expectations for each grade level.
Federal and state law require students in grades 3 - 8 and grade 10 to participate in statewide testing in math, English language arts (ELA), and science, technology, and engineering (STE).
All students with disabilities are required to participate in scheduled testing for their grade.
All English Learner (EL) students, except those who are in their first year of enrollment in the US school system, must participate in all MCAS testing scheduled for their grade.
