Madison Launches Distance Learning Website
Madison's new district learning website features the online learning class schedule, supports for families, links to community resources, as well as information about counseling services. Most teachers are now using Google Classroom as a virtual classroom platform. Teacher links and classroom codes are listed under the Subjects tab on Madison's Distance Learning website. Links and class codes can also be found on Madison's home page under About Us/Teacher Directory (click on the name of the teacher to access their teacher page). It is important that students follow the class schedule that is posted. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 2 class periods per day, with teacher office hours on Tuesday and Thursday for additional support. Madison's administration, as well as the district, are monitoring classroom participation. If you have questions, please contact your student's counselor. There is also a Google Classroom link for each grade level, which features important information related to each specific grade.

Starting on Wednesday, April 15, San Diego Unified’s Food and Nutrition Services will begin offering free breakfast and lunch take-out meals for families in need. Meals will be distributed from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily, not including weekends. Hot food items should be eaten within 2-hours; frozen foods can be heated in the microwave or oven and are pre-packaged in ovenable film suitable for heating or microwaving. Online Learning Begins in SDUSD
On Monday, April 6, students on a traditional calendar returned from spring break and resumed online learning. During the school closure, the district made available 15 days of new instructional resources on the district web site and many of our teachers posted lessons and other materials to their Google Classroom to support student learning. As we transition to full Distance Learning for the remainder of the school year, we recognize that some families will need support. All families are requested to complete the Warhawk Check-in so that we can determine what supports you might need and how we can help. San Diego Unified is committed to having a Distance Learning program that is accessible to all students with ongoing support for English Learners and those who receive special education services. Chromebook laptops will be issued for students on Tuesday, April 21 at Clairemont High School following a specific distribution schedule and protocol (see Pick Up Procedures). High school students can pick up their laptop without a parent, however, they must bring their school ID and follow social distancing guidelines. They must also wear a mask or other facial covering to protect their health and the health of others. Students will have use of the laptops at home for the remainder of the school year (they must be returned at the end of the school year).
Online Instruction at Madison
Many teachers have provided links to their Google Classroom pages on their individual teacher pages on Madison's website (see About Us/Teacher Directory), along with class codes for each class. Madison's class schedule will be forthcoming. The grading period for online classes will begin on Monday, April 27. For the next three weeks, teachers and students will be getting used to the distance learning platform and working out any issues that may arise so that all students are up and running when the grading period begins. Students enrolled in Mesa College courses are already participating online in their regularly scheduled classes at their scheduled time. Counselors are available to assist students and families with questions. Each class cohort has their own Google Classroom established for information and updates pertaining to the class. Please visit the counseling webpage to get the class code. At this time, the district is working on guidelines for schools for credit recovery, summer school and commencement for the class of 2020, etc. We will keep our Warhawk families up-to-date as we receive this information.

If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Follow the Social Distancing guidelines by staying at least 6 feet apart. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
