CHANGES
The adage “the only constant you can count on is change” is a familiar phrase to all of us including the Thompson community. With each and every new year, change is a given. Teachers change, course offerings change, and schedules change. This year we have seen many minor changes and a few major changes. Thank you for your continued support, patience, and flexibility as we partner together.
END OF THE FIRST QUARTER
Thompson has decided to move the end of the first quarter to Friday, October 11th from Friday, October 18th. We are doing this to make the number of school days in the 1st and 2nd quarters more balanced. Grades will be posted in the Home Access Center for families on Friday, October 18th.
THOMPSON CLUBS
As you are aware from the announcements, even more clubs are starting including Maker Club, Science Club, Origami Club, and Dance Club! Click here to view descriptions and meeting times of our clubs. And students should listen to the announcements now being read during tutorial periods for meeting days and times! Please encourage your child to attend one of these club meetings and take advantage of middle school activities outside of the school day!
Enjoy your weekend!

News from the PTO
Our next PTO meeting is Thursday, September 26th at 10:00 am. Please join us to hear about all of the wonderful activities we are doing to support the Thompson community. All are welcome!
We have been asked with helping the school run the Thunder Buck store. The Thunder Buck store is where the students are able to redeem their Thunder Bucks that they earn for displaying positive behaviors. The PTO is happy to help in creating and maintaining a positive and responsible environment for all of the Thompson students.
We are looking for help in managing the Thunder Buck store. If you are looking for an opportunity to be in the school volunteering from time to time, this is your chance! The store is open every Friday before school. Please see the Sign-Up Genius link below for all the dates available. Thank you all for helping!

Volunteers wanted!
The Thompson Builders Club is a club focused on community service. They plan to volunteer monthly, on the second Thursday of each month, at the Northern Illinois Food Bank from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The club needs ten or more students, each with a parent, guardian, or older sibling of driving age, to volunteer with them each time and are opening up this opportunity to the entire Thompson community! You do not need to be a member of Builders Club to join us!
The Northern Illinois Food Bank, located in Geneva, is the source of nutritious food and feeding programs for more than half a million people each year. It is a nonprofit organization with a goal of solving hunger in the 13-county service area of Northern Illinois. If you would like more specific information regarding the food bank please visit solvehungertoday.org.
If you would like to join us, please email Dave Simone for more information. The dates that we will be volunteering are 10/10, 11/14, 12/12, 1/9, 2/13, 3/12, 4/9, and 5/14. Thank you for your time and consideration! We look forward to sharing this experience with you!
