GCPS Chromebooks - Seniors ONLY
All graduating seniors must return their GCPS issued Chromebook and charger to room T317 after their last exam. Fees for these missing items will be visible on MyPaymentsPlus Tuesday, May 14th. All fees must be paid before receiving graduation ceremony tickets.
Check-Outs - Final Exams
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to perform their best on their exams, there will be no student check-outs allowed during the final exam window. This procedure is necessary to minimize disruptions and maintain the integrity of the testing process. We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, but we kindly request that appointments and other obligations be scheduled outside of this critical period. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
This week we begin our final exams for seniors, please see the exam schedule above. Here are a few things to remember:
- Charge your Chromebook the night before. Bring your charger just in case your Chromebook needs a charge throughout the day.
- Get a good night's sleep: Ensure you have a restful sleep the night before the test. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep to feel refreshed and focused in the morning.
- Wake up early: Give yourself enough time in the morning to avoid rushing. Waking up early allows you to have a calm and relaxed start to your day.
- Eat a nutritious breakfast: Fuel your brain with a healthy breakfast containing protein, whole grains, and fruits or vegetables. Avoid heavy or greasy foods that may make you feel sluggish.
- Review key information: Quickly review key concepts or notes related to the test material. Focus on main ideas, formulas, or important details to refresh your memory.
- Practice deep breathing or meditation: Take a few minutes to engage in deep breathing exercises or meditation to calm your mind and reduce test anxiety.
- Avoid last-minute cramming: Trying to learn new information right before the test can be overwhelming and may lead to confusion. Trust in the preparation you have done and focus on a positive mindset instead.
- Double-check test materials: Before leaving for the test, ensure you have all the necessary materials, such as pens, pencils, erasers, calculators, or any other items required. This helps avoid unnecessary stress.
- Use the restroom: Take a quick restroom break before the test begins. This minimizes distractions and helps you stay focused during the exam.
- Stay positive and confident: Maintain a positive attitude and believe in your abilities. Positive self-talk can boost your confidence and help you perform better during the test.
End-of-Semester Withdrawals - Start the Process Now
As the end of the semester approaches, we understand that some families may need to initiate the withdrawal process for their students. To ensure a smooth and timely transition, please begin the process as soon as possible.
To initiate the withdrawal process, please email Ms. Maryam Brooks at Maryam.Brooks@gcpsk12.org or call her at 678-288-0800. The necessary forms will be completed in person and only enrolling parents or guardians may complete them. Starting the process early will help shorten the wait time for your student's withdrawal packet. Final transcripts will be available after June 3rd.
Please note that initiating the withdrawal process early does not affect your student's ability to take final exams. Your student will be officially withdrawn from Seckinger after the last day of school. All withdrawing students must return the following items before May 22nd.
- GCPS issued Chromebook and Charger
- Textbooks
- Library Books
- Outstanding Fees
Final Transcripts Available After Jun 3rd
We would like to inform you that final transcripts for this academic year will be available after June 3rd. Please make note of this date if you need to request a transcript for college applications, scholarships, or any other purposes. All students will receive an unofficial transcript by mail the week of June 5. To request an official transcript, please follow the procedure outlined on our school website at https://schools.gcpsk12.org/Page/35651.
Retrieving Medications from the Clinic Before the Last Day of School
As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to remind parents and guardians who have stored medication for their child in the school clinic to retrieve it before the last day of school. Please note that medications must be picked up by a parent and or adult listed on the student's emergency check-out list. For the safety of our students, medications will not be sent home with students. To retrieve your child's medication, please visit the clinic during regular school hours. We encourage you to do this as soon as possible to ensure a smooth and timely return of medications.
