NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
No School: Just a reminder, there is no school next week due to Thanksgiving Break. Enjoy the time off, but take time to ponder all the wonderful blessings from God for which we are truly thankful!
Thanksgiving Eve Worship: Trinity will be having a Thanksgiving Eve Worship service on Wednesday, November 27, at 4:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and thank God for the wonderful blessings he has given us.
Christmas for Kids Event: This year, we will have "The Journey to the Manger" as our Christmas for Kids event. It will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This is for children ages 3 through those in 5th grade. We will have the Christmas story, games and activities, lunch, a community service project, and a movie. Registration forms are coming home with the children in 3K-5th grade this week. You can also print the form further down in this newsletter or you can register online at www.trinityminocqua.org. Any questions can be directed to Kristen Smith or contact the school office.
Singing for Worship: The next time the students sing for worship will be on Sunday, December 15. This will be the Children's Christmas Service. All of the students will start learning their parts and songs this week. Please make plans to have your child here for this special worship service. More information will come home with the children at a later date.
Church Attendance: Every week, church attendance will be taken in kindergarten through 8th grade. Its intent is to encourage an active worship life in our school families. Please make weekly worship the highlight of your week.
Sunday School and Bible Class: Each Sunday following our 9:00 am worship service (10:30 am). Sunday School is for students in preschool through 4th grade. Bible Class is for 5th-8th grade, high school students, and adults. All are welcome to attend!
Midweek Chapel: Each Wednesday (8:15 am) throughout the school year, Trinity conducts a midweek chapel service. We encourage and invite all of our preschool and K-8 parents and families to join the students for this 15-20 minute service each week. This year’s chapels will center around the theme “Connected to Christ”. Our chapel offerings will be given to the Military Services Committee. This committee provides face to face ministry to WELS military personnel serving in the United States and Europe. They also provide resources for those serving on ships or deployed somewhere else in the world. To date, we have collected $211.21 for this ministry.
Winter Weather Wear: Please make sure your student has the appropriate clothing to go outside for recess each day. As the temperatures get colder, winter coats, hats, and mittens will be needed. Snow pants and boots will be needed as soon as we have snow. Always plan for outside recess.
Winter Weather Closings: If the Lakeland School District closes for the day (or portion of a day) due to inclement weather, Trinity will also be closed. Check local TV (7, 9, 12) and radio stations, as well as Trinity’s Facebook page and website for closing information. If it seems as if a snow day could be called, please be sure to check these for verification.
Lost and Found: If your student misplaces an item during the school year, be sure to check the lost and found shelf outside the office.
School Absences: If your student will not be in school on a given day due to illness, please either call the school office to leave a message or contact your student’s teacher directly. Only parents can excuse an absence; siblings cannot. A Notice of Absence sheet (available in the school office or online) needs to be filled out when an absence is preplanned. It should be returned to your student’s teacher prior to the absence. Thanks for your cooperation!

Classroom Updates
Mr. Habben - Grades 6-8
Good morning Tigers, here's what's on the schedule for this week in our classroom.
Memory Work: From now until Christmas, the student's memory work will (mostly) come from their Christmas service packet.
- Tuesday - (from Christmas packet) page 1 the first recitation done by all the children.
- Thursday - The 2nd recitation done by all the children on page 2.
- Friday - "Oh Come Little Children" verse 2.
Math: 7th grade will have their chapter 3 test this Wednesday (11/20).
Literacy/Spelling: This week students will begin reading a book of their own choice (pending approval by me) that will be the basis for a book report later this quarter. Spelling list #12 will be our list for this Thursday and Friday's test.
Social Studies: On Tuesday, students will begin work on a project connected to the famous song "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel. They will be working on this for the next few weeks.
Geography: There will be a quiz on lesson 3-3 on Wednesday this week (11/20). This is the last lesson in chapter 3, but due to Thanksgiving break next week, we will start the review process for the Chapter 3 test the Monday after break (12/2).
Have a blessed week!
Mrs. Wetterau - Grades 3-5
Memory Treasures: The children will work on their Christmas Service parts in school.
Spelling:
Section 1 - Unit 7 Week 1
Section 2 - Unit 11 Week 1
The final test will be Friday, November 22nd.
Social Studies: The students will be studying the Southeast states. The states/capital's test will be close to Christmas break.
Extra: The students are allowed to wear their slippers in my classroom for this upcoming winter season. It's just an easy way for students to switch back and forth between boots and classroom shoes.
Book orders are being sent home today. If you would like to purchase any of the books, please go online to scholastic.com and make your purchase. Our classroom code is: QKJL3. All book orders are due Friday, November 22nd.
For Christmas this year, instead of classroom gifts, we will again be making a monetary donation to the Lakeland WINGS program. The WINGS Program is a community-based transition program designed to assist in the transition from a school to adult life. The goal is to teach students the skills needed to live as independently as possible once they leave high school. The students can bring their donations in from now until Wednesday, December 18th.
Mrs. Habben - Grades 3-8 Science & STEAM
IIn 3-5 science we are learning about the motion of cars. We will be having a test on lessons 1-3 on Wednesday December 4th. They will be receiving the study guide on Monday, November 18th. Please go through this study guide with your child to help them prepare for the test.
Last week in STEAM we learned about generosity, gratitude, and having a servant’s heart. We finished making the tie blankets we started last week. These blankets have been donated to the Minocqua Fire Department, Woodruff Fire Department, Woodruff Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, and Lakeland Pantry. We are still trying to learn addresses so if parents could help students learn their addresses that would be appreciated. We will eventually write a letter to send in the mail.

Our theme this week: “Some people refuse to believe in God and obey him.” We are starting on Set 2 of our Christ Light lessons. This week, we hear about how Pharaoh does not obey God (lesson 1A), and how God responds with the plagues he sends (lesson 1B).
