October 27, 2024 - Boo, It's Spirit Week!
Oct. 27, 2024 - Boo, It's Spirit Week!
Prepare yourselves; this week is going to be full of all sorts of tricks and treats. There’s Spirit Week, the school Halloween Parade, and trick or treating — followed by Coffee Talk with Principal Miller on Friday. Then DCPS comes in hot with some real treats to wrap up the Halloween season -- there is NO SCHOOL Monday 11/4 or Tuesday 11/5. **Insert evil laugh here.**
As always, please reach out to either Angelle (pto@ludlowtaylor.org) or Chris (ptopresident@ludlowtaylor.org) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Copying both of us on any email will enhance our ability to respond promptly.

Coffee Talk with Principal Miller -- Friday, Nov. 1 @ 8:30 am
Want to have coffee with the PTO and see PM in the AM after staying up trick or treating the night before? Then, join us for Coffee Talk with Principal Miller on Friday, Nov. 1. After hearing feedback from the October event, Principal Miller has agreed to adjust the format. Half of Coffee Talk will be for mingling and small group conversations, and the other half will return to the larger group opportunity for those present to ask questions.
If you have a question for Principal Miller but are unable to attend the event, please add it here. Following the event, the PTO will send these questions to Principal Miller who will provide written answers. We will close this document at 8:00 PM on 11/3.
Principal Appreciation -- Thanks to All Who Participated!
Thanks to everyone who participated in showering Principal Miller with thanks over the last week in connection with Principal Appreciation Month. In particular, huge thanks to LT mom Ursula Gunther (owner of Fleurs DC) for donating the gorgeous floral arrangement that she designed and made. Together, we gave Principal Miller flowers, homemade cards, a truly heartwarming video, and the most coveted piece of LT swag thus far this school year -- those comfy LT sweatpants.
Cross Country Championships
Congratulations to our Cross Country team for finishing up another successful season under the direction of Mr. Cooper and Coach Smith. Special shout out to the 7 fastest girls and boys who qualified to participate in last week's championship race: Ariel Warren, Annie Lane-Chidester, Jahari Carter, Lila McDermott, Sophie Cleaver, Magnolia Taylor, Lily Hill, Mael Sainsard-Woolley, Lincoln Shieh, John Verret, Miles Robinson-Feinstein, Alex Cain, Mathis Thorpe, and Jack Kaplan. Way to go, Warriors!

Partnership Spotlight -- You Shop, Businesses Give LT Money
LA DINETTE
Want to help the PTO while also getting some time back for yourself? Try out La Dinette, a local, woman owned, eco-focused business that does meal delivery. Add the coupon LOVELUDLOW and La Dinette will give back 10% of all a la carte purchases and 20% of new subscriptions to the PTO.
MINTED (Holiday Cards & More)
If you are already thinking about holiday cards, Minted partners with LT. Minted offers 20% off and donates 15% of proceeds to LT when you use code FUNDRAISELUDLOW at checkout. For the record, the folks writing the PTO Update are *at least* a month away from thinking about this.
