November 2024
Principal Message
Can you believe it? We are a quarter of a way through the school year. During the month of October, our students were able to finish their first quarter of the year. Record cards have been mailed to all parents and guardians and we even had an opportunity to hold a parent/teacher conferences. Any parent or guardian who has not received their child’s report card or would like to sit down with your child’s teachers, please feel free to call the school and we can direct you to the right person.
I also want to take this opportunity to invite parents and guardians to participate in the Parent Advisory Committee. This month we hosted a parent engagement activity called Parents and Popsicles. This activity was held at the end of the school day and it allowed students and parents to engage with one another over popsicles while listening to a presentation on preventing bullying in the middle school. The purpose of the Pop-Up parent engagement activities is to provide brief yet meaningful informational sessions where parents and students are able to engage and hear about things that are going on here at Milkovich Middle School as well as parent tips for nurturing and raising the middle school child. Look out for another Pop-Up parent engagement activity coming in November.

Arrival/Dismissal Each Day
Students are able to begin entering the school building at 7:30 AM
Students either go to the cafeteria for breakfast or the gym to wait to be dismissed to class at 7:53 AM. If your child wants breakfast, please make sure they are here by 7:50 AM each day so that they can be in class on time.
All students receive a free breakfast and lunch
All students are to be in class by 8:00 AM. If you arrive after 8:00 AM, you are tardy.
All students will go through the security checkpoint each day.
All students will place their phones and electronic devices into their Yondr pouch each morning before making their way to the security line.
At dismissal, students will be able to open their Yondr pouches on their way out of the building to go home.
Please ensure your child brings their pouch every day. Once it becomes a habit of not bringing a pouch, a new pouch will be issued to the student with a $30 fee added to their school fees.
Stay in the Game
September is Attendance Awareness month. Being in school daily is critical to success.
Showing up matters for R.E.A.L because it is an opportunity to:
Build Routines
Increase Engagement
Provide Access to resources
Support Learning
Routines: Establishing a routine of daily attendance helps reduce stress at home, and supports a habit of attendance that will help your teenager get and keep a job.
Engagement: Being in school helps students to get to know each other and school staff and builds relationships that can motivate participation in learning.
Access to Resources: Schools provide access to valuable resources such as meals, health, mental health supports and fun enrichment activities such as sports, clubs, music, and other afterschool and summer programs.
Learning: Students who attend school regularly do better academically in middle school and are more likely to graduate from high school.
Attendance Matters
If you know that your child is going to be absent, please call the attendance line by 9:00 AM. 216-438-6000 ext. 2029
Please do everything that you can to have your child here every day and on time. One day missed can easily put your child behind.
