MMS Artist of the Week

Yirah Schultz is our Artist of the Week! Yirah was persistent and strove for accuracy when creating her Two Point Perspective City. This project is very challenging, however Yirah rose to the occasion. Great work, Yirah!

This Week's Highlights: ELA 6

Mrs. Samhat's 6th grade ELA students just wrapped up their Independent Reading Unit! After reading a book of their choice for their unit project, they visited the library this week to return their books and to check out new ones. And as a bonus, they were able to spend some time with Louie!

MMS Choir

This past Saturday, we had the following 20 students audition and participate in Regional Honors Choir. Students were required to learn two pieces, and rehearse with other students across Michigan. Of these 20 singers, 14 were selected to represent Millennium and South Lyon for the 6789 State Honors Choirs that will perform in Grand Rapids in January, during the Michigan Music Conference, where music teachers from all over the state of Michigan come together for professional development. Here is a list of the 14 who were selected to move on.

Blue Out

Our district's annual Blue Out for Type 1 diabetes (T1D) awareness will be on Tuesday, November 14th. Staff and students are encouraged to wear blue to bring awareness to the many Type 1 diabetic students attending South Lyon Schools.

Football Games and Safety

Many students are interested in attending tonight's high school football game. Please understand that if your child wants to attend, we require adult supervision of the middle school students. Students should show their school id card at the gate and be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or an adult that they have permission to be with. Children who are not in high school will not be admitted without an adult. Adults bringing children who are not in high school are expected to supervise them for the duration of the game.

Any disruptions caused will be addressed by administration and law enforcement. Students are expected to follow school expectations and rules. Students are on school grounds at the high school football field and the Code of Conduct is upheld.

7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball Tryouts

Boys basketball season will begin with tryouts for both teams on Tuesday 10/24, Wednesday 10/25, and Thursday 10/26. Tryouts will be from 2:45 to 4:30 each day.

Students will need to have a valid physical dated after April 15, 2023 on file or bring one to the tryouts in order to participate. Physicals can be brought to Mr. Keys (612) or Mrs. Hartlep (7th/8th Grade Office) at any time before the tryout. Please contact Mr. Keys (keysr@slcs.us) with any further questions.
